Predicting of Withdrawal Strength With Dowel Joint in Medium Density Fiber (MDF (By mathematic model [PDF]
Although doweled joints are vastly used in furniture frame, these are little. Information about its withdrawal strength. The intent of this study is both to obtain initial and primary information concerning the withdrawal strength of dowel pin and, as ...

Research on the Optimum Embedment Depth of the Dowel Pins into the Particleboard Joints [PDF]
In this paper the authors intend to present the results of the experimental research on the dowel joints applied for 18mm particleboard panels, in order to determine the optimal embedment depth of the dowels, depending on the mechanical resistance of

This study applied response surface methodology for modeling and optimizing heat-treated wood dowel joints, the most used joint in furniture construction. The factors examined were dowel length, dowel diameter, and adhesive consumption. The bending moment capacity of the joints loaded in compression or tension were the responses.

Effect of selected factors on stiffness of dowel joints
Furniture must be designed to suit the intended use. Producers need to guarantee its quality and stiffness. During external loading, there are internal forces that can be transmitted and may result in a failure. This article examines the dowel joint, which is one of the most popular furniture joints.

ABSTRACT While cross‐laminated timber (CLT) is increasingly utilized in lateral force‐resisting systems in mass timber construction, research has predominantly focused on platform‐type construction. Balloon‐type CLT shear wall systems offer distinct structural advantages, notably the elimination of cumulative perpendicular‐to‐grain compression and a ...

STRUCTURAL BEHAVIOR OF TIMBER-STEEL-JOINTS WITH EITHER DOWEL-TYPE FASTENERS OR CONTINUOUS JOINTS
For the development of a new hybrid construction method combining the materials steel and timber for linear load-carrying elements subjected to bending loads, different joining methods were investigated. The joining methods were 1) dowel-type fasteners, partly in combination with higher friction in the shear plane and 2) continuous joints, mainly by ...
