Effects of Wall‐to‐Floor Interactions on Seismic Response of Platform‐Type CLT Buildings

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, Volume 55, Issue 11, Page 2880-2896, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Platform‐type cross‐laminated timber (CLT) buildings feature discontinuous wall segments supported by CLT floors. In practice, CLT floors are often treated as rigid diaphragm, yet the wall‐to‐floor interactions (WFIs) associated with flexibility of floors remain insufficiently investigated during seismic performance assessment.

Flume experiments on macro‐roughness elements: Hydraulic response and potential influences on flood risk and habitat diversity

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 51, Issue 8, August 2026.
Physical modelling of macro‐roughness elements for river restoration showed that backwater rise depends mostly on the relative structure width and approaching flow Froude number, with only minor differences among designs. Internal geometry modulated turbulent kinetic energy and flow partition between gap and wake.

A Parametric Study Investigating the Dowel Bar Load Transfer Efficiency in Jointed Plain Concrete Pavement Using a Finite Element Model

open access: yesBuildings
Transverse joints are introduced in jointed plain concrete pavement systems to mitigate the risk of cracks that can develop due to shrinkage and temperature variations.

Dynamic coronal plane knee alignment: Femoral anatomy determines kinematic curve morphology, tibial anatomy determines curve position

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, Volume 34, Issue 8, Page 2823-2832, August 2026.
Abstract Purpose A single hip–knee–ankle angle (HKA) angle does not reflect the biomechanics of native, arthritic or prosthetic knees. Since HKA varies throughout flexion, dynamic coronal alignment is best represented by a kinematic curve plotting HKA against the range of motion.

Effects of Root Architecture on Plant Anchoring in Noncohesive Sediment

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Earth Surface, Volume 131, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Plant roots stabilize sediment in engineered and natural landscapes, but we lack a general understanding of how root architecture affects anchoring forces. Existing models can accurately simulate root breakage and soil failure, but such models primarily rely on experimentally calibrated empirical relations between root geometry characteristics

All‐Inside Primary Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction Using a Combined Polyester Synthetic Graft and Gracilis Tendon Autograft: Modified Technique of a Hybrid 4 × 2 Graft Preparation

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, Volume 15, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction is a frequently performed procedure in arthroscopic surgery, with rising rates paralleling the incidence of anterior cruciate ligament ruptures worldwide. Synthetic grafts, especially hybrid constructs combining artificial devices with autologous tissue, offer biomechanical advantages and potential ...

Atypical Predictive Processing Is Associated With Sensory Over‐Responsivity in Autism

open access: yesAutism Research, Volume 19, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Autism is characterized by sensory processing atypicalities including sensory over‐responsivity (SOR), a heightened negative response to sensory stimuli. Although the neural mechanisms underlying SOR are not fully understood, SOR has been associated with sensory‐limbic hyper‐reactivity during sensory stimulation.

Valorization of Poplar Wood Wastes Into 3D‐Printed Soya Oil‐Based Composites by Vat Photopolymerization for Interior Design

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, Volume 64, Issue 11, Page 2351-2367, 1 June 2026.
Bio‐based polymer composites were 3D printed by LCD vat photopolymerization using acrylate epoxidized soybean oil as the monomer and isobornyl methacrylate as the reactive diluent. Two different poplar powders derived from plywood processing waste were incorporated within the photocurable formulations.

Behavior of Long‐Slotted Perforated Steel Plate Fuses in Timber Brace End Connections

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, Volume 55, Issue 6, Page 1247-1269, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Steel perforated plate fuses have emerged as a promising solution for mass timber seismic force‐resisting systems, offering tunable energy dissipation mechanisms, such as flexural and shear yielding, through geometric adjustments. This study examines the cyclic performance of perforated steel plate fuses employed in timber braced frames, with ...
