"Zero-Shot" Super-Resolution using Deep Internal Learning

open access: yes, 2017
Deep Learning has led to a dramatic leap in Super-Resolution (SR) performance in the past few years. However, being supervised, these SR methods are restricted to specific training data, where the acquisition of the low-resolution (LR) images from their ...

Downscaling of fracture energy during brittle creep experiments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We present mode 1 brittle creep fracture experiments along fracture surfaces that contain strength heterogeneities. Our observations provide a link between smooth macroscopic time-dependent failure and intermittent microscopic stress-dependent processes.

Spin and Charge Control of Topological End States in Chiral Graphene Nanoribbons on a 2D Ferromagnet

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Chiral graphene nanoribbons on a ferromagnetic gadolinium‐gold surface alloy display tunable spin and charge states at their termini. Atomic work function variations and exchange fields enabe transitions between singlet, doublet, and triplet configurations.

High‐Performance Air‐Stable Polymer Monolayer Transistors for Monolithic 3D CMOS logics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A fibrillar polymer monolayer with a self‐confinement effect is demonstrated, in which aligned chains parallel the nanofiber axis. Employing a top‐gate CYTOP dielectric, this monolayer transistor achieves high mobility (7.12 cm2 V−1 s−1) and exceptional stability over 1260 days in air.

Estimating pros and cons of statistical downscaling based on EQM bias adjustment as a complementary method to dynamical downscaling

open access: yesScientific Reports
The increasing availability of coarse-scale climate simulations and the need for ready-to-use high-resolution variables drive the climate community to the challenge of reducing computational resources and time for downscaling purposes.

The CORDEX.be initiative as a foundation for climate services in Belgium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The CORDEX.be project created the foundations for Belgian climate services by producing high-resolution Belgian climate information that (a) incorporates the expertise of the different Belgian climate modeling groups and that (b) is consistent with the ...

On the suitability of deep convolutional neural networks for continental-wide downscaling of climate change projections

open access: yesClimate Dynamics, 2021
In a recent paper, Baño-Medina et al. (Configuration and Intercomparison of deep learning neural models for statistical downscaling. preprint, 2019) assessed the suitability of deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for downscaling of temperature and ...

Ferroelectrics Hybrids: Harnessing Multifunctionality of 2D Semiconductors in the Post‐Moore Era

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
In this Review, the state of art of ferroelectric hybrid systems—combining ferroelectrics, 2D semiconductors, and molecular switches is presented—as next‐generation platforms for high‐density, multifunctional electronics. By discussing 2D FeFET applications, nanoscale material downscaling, M3D integration, and emerging ferroelectrics, it highlights ...
