A frailty-contagion model for multi-site hourly precipitation driven by atmospheric covariates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Accurate stochastic simulations of hourly precipitation are needed for impact studies at local spatial scales. Statistically, hourly precipitation data represent a difficult challenge.

The Synergism of β‐Cyclodextrin and Fe3+ Enabled Anti‐Swelling Ion‐Conductive Hydrogels for Multimodal Underwater Sensing Aided by Machine Learning Algorithms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An anti‐swelling ion‐conductive hydrogel is developed via β‐cyclodextrin and Fe3+ synergism, enabling reliable underwater motion sensing and Morse code communication. Integrated with machine learning, the system achieves 98.6% accuracy in real‐time underwater handwriting recognition for rapid information transmission.

The utility of daily large-scale climate data in the assessment of climate change impacts on daily streamflow in California [PDF]

open access: yesHydrology and Earth System Sciences, 2010
Three statistical downscaling methods were applied to NCEP/NCAR reanalysis (used as a surrogate for the best possible general circulation model), and the downscaled meteorology was used to drive a hydrologic model over California. The historic record was

Novel stacking models for improved extreme rainfall predictions under climate change scenarios. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Future projections under global warming scenarios of local extreme precipitations by downscaling models is still open challenge. A number of downscaling statistical models have been proposed to link large scale atmospheric circulation features, as ...

Revisiting Target‐Aware de novo Molecular Generation with TarPass: Between Rational Design and Texas Sharpshooter

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
TarPass provides a rigorous benchmark for target‐aware de novo molecular generation by jointly evaluating protein‐ligand interactions, molecular plausibility, and drug‐likeness on 18 well‐studied targets. Results show that current models often fail to consistently surpass random baseline in target‐specific enrichment, while post hoc multi‐tier virtual ...

Evaluation of dynamical downscaling prediction of BCC second-generation model system product to precipitation over Chongqing during the flood season of 2016

open access: yes暴雨灾害, 2019
To evaluate the dynamical downscaling prediction skill on the averaged precipitation in flood season over Chongqing, using WRF model based on Beijing Climate Center (BCC) second-generation seasonal prediction model system (BCCv2) product, we have ...

Assessing the carbon footprint and climate risk of most consumed food products in Cali, Colombia: Methodological development of a decision support tool [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
This document is a methodological support complementing the combined methodology proposal. It lists all the steps to be followed to implement it. The initial proposal used Cali as a case study.

A comparative analysis of projected impacts of climate change on river runoff from global and catchment-scale hydrological models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We present a comparative analysis of projected impacts of climate change on river runoff from two types of distributed hydrological model, a global hydrological model (GHM) and catchment-scale hydrological models (CHM).

On the Use of Reanalysis Data for Downscaling [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Climate, 2012
Abstract In this study, a worldwide overview on the expected sensitivity of downscaling studies to reanalysis choice is provided. To this end, the similarity of middle-tropospheric variables—which are important for the development of both dynamical and statistical downscaling schemes—from 40-yr European Centre for Medium-Range Weather ...

Inhibitory Decay and Supercritical Brain Dynamics During Sleep Deprivation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sleep deprivation progressively shifts human brain dynamics from near‐critical toward supercritical states, as revealed by neuronal avalanche analysis of resting‐state fMRI. These changes track subjective sleep pressure rather than vigilance lapses and show marked network heterogeneity. A circuit model suggests that reduced inhibitory efficacy provides
