Autophagy and mitophagy in pancreatic β‐cell homeostasis and their involvement in diabetes pathophysiology

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review focuses on the role of autophagy and mitophagy in maintaining pancreatic β‐cell function and homeostasis. We discuss how genetic defects affecting these pathways contribute to the development of type 1, type 2, monogenic, and gestational diabetes. We further explore their potential as therapeutic targets. Created in BioRender.

Effect on Blank Holding Force on Blank Deformation at Direct and Indirect Hot Deep Drawings of Boron Steel Sheets

open access: yesMetals, 2018
This study involves performing direct and indirect hot press forming on ultra-high-strength steel (UHSS) boron steel sheets to determine formability. The indirect hot press process is performed as a cold deep drawing process, while the direct hot press ...

Influence of draw reins on ground reaction forces at the trot [PDF]

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, 2002
Summary According to riding texts, draw reins are supposed to support increased collection. This has not been measured objectively. Therefore, the objective of this study was to determine whether a horse ridden with draw reins would relatively increase weightbearing of the hindquarters while worked with the draw reins compared to a ...

Membrane composition and thermodynamic identity as boundaries of life for synthetic cell research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
What makes a cell a cell? The boundary of a living cell is not just a wall. Read as a Markov blanket, the membrane separates internal from external states, generating identity and non‐equilibrium order. Can this identity be rebuilt from scratch in a synthetic cell?

FEM simulation analysis of wire rod drawing process using the rotating die under Coulomb friction

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2017
This study proposes a cold drawing technology of wire rod with rotating die; it carries out an FEM simulation on rotating drawing using DEFORM-3D commercial software. Frictions among the die and the wire material are assumed as Coulomb friction.

Advances on Geometrical Limits in the Deep Drawing Process of Paperboard

open access: yesBioResources, 2016
The geometrical limits of the deep drawing process of paper to advanced shapes are not known. This report examines the technological limits of convex elements of the base shape in relation to the drawing height and shows the material behavior in the ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Orthogonal-Ordering Constraints are Tough

open access: yesJournal of Graph Algorithms and Applications, 2013
We show that rectilinear graph drawing, the core problem of bend-minimum orthogonal graph drawing, and uniform edge-length drawing, the core problem of force-directed placement, are NP-hard even for embedded paths if subjected to orthogonal ...

Quantitative Study on the Contact Force and Force Chain Characteristics of Ore Particle Systems during Ore Drawing from a Single Drawpoint under the Influence of a Flexible Barrier

open access: yesGeofluids, 2020
It is of great significance to carry out quantitative research on the contact force chain characteristics of ore particle systems during ore drawing to reveal the microscopic and mesoscopic characteristics of ore particle systems during implementation of

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in
