C-peptide in dried blood spots
Scandinavian Journal of Clinical and Laboratory Investigation, 2010The aim was to evaluate if the Dried Blood Spot (DBS)-technique can be used to analyse C-peptide. S-C-peptide and paired whole blood clotted on filters, dried, punched out and eluted were sampled from 198 healthy subjects. Six subjects with S-C-peptide values outside the reference range were excluded.

Quantification of insulin in dried blood spots
Journal of Laboratory and Clinical Medicine, 1998A method has been developed in which the concentrations of insulin in dried blood spots on filter paper can be estimated. The technique involves elution of blood from the paper, evaporation, and rehydration in assay buffer. The resuspended samples are then assayed by radioimmunoassay.

Radioimmunoassay of Thyroxine in Dried Blood Spots
Journal of Paediatrics and Child Health, 1978Sadler, W. A., Lynskey, Clare P., and Legge, M. (1978). Aust. Paediatr. J., 14, 154–182. Radioimmunoassay of thyroxine in dried blood spots. A rapid precise radioimmunoassay for thyroxine (T4) in dried blood spots on filter paper has been developed, and appears entirely suitable for use as a mass screening procedure for the early diagnosis of neonatal ...

Discovery stage pharmacokinetics using dried blood spots
Journal of Chromatography B, 2004Early in the discovery stage, the measurement of drug candidates in biological fluids as a function time provides important information used in decision making for lead optimization. The detection methodology primarily used is liquid chromatography coupled to triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (LC-MS).

What Is Next For Dried Blood Spots?
Bioanalysis, 2012In the last several years, dried blood spot (DBS) sampling has re-emerged and attracted a great interest in the pharmaceutical industry as a microsampling technology for drug discovery and development studies. Although significant progress has been made to understand strengths and weaknesses of the technique, many organizations are still at the ...

Tuberculosis (TB) is a high-burden infectious disease, especially in low and middle-income countries. The efforts to eliminate this disease are challenged by the emergence of multidrug resistance and TB-HIV coinfection. The cumulative knowledge on pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics of antituberculosis agents has recently encouraged therapeutic drug ...

Familial Hypercholesterolemia Biomarker Distribution in Dried Blood Spots
The Journal of Pediatrics, 2023To evaluate distribution profiles of total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and apolipoprotein B (apoB) as candidate markers of familial hypercholesterolemia in newborns, taking into consideration potential confounding factors, such as gestational age, birth weight, sex, and race.TC, LDL-C, and apoB were measured from 10 ...

Quantification of valproic acid in dried blood spots
Scandinavian Journal of Clinical and Laboratory Investigation, 2014Therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) of the antiepileptic drug valproic acid (VPA) is recommended in patients with multiple drug therapy or with concomitant disabilities to ensure treatment efficacy and avoid adverse reactions in both adults and children. The use of sampling techniques compatible with home sampling, such as dried blood spot sampling could

Dried blood spot glucose measurement in hyperinsulinaemic hypoglycaemia
Clinical Biochemistry, 1989A retrospective analysis of dried blood spot glucose profiles found them to provide useful information about the progress of a child with hyperinsulinism due to nesidiodysplasia. The potential for their use in the management of such cases is discussed.

Measurement of leptin in dried blood spot samples
American Journal of Human Biology, 2006Leptin is important in a wide range of physiological processes, but logistical constraints associated with venipuncture blood collection have limited research on leptin in diverse, community-based settings. The aim of this short report is to present and validate an enzyme immunoassay method for quantifying leptin in samples of capillary whole blood ...
