A sesquiterpene drimane with antinociceptive activity from Drimys winteri bark

Phytochemistry, 2001
Along with three known drimanes, polygodial. 1-beta-(p-methoxycinnamoyl) polygodial and mukaadial, the sesquiterpene drimane named drimanial was isolated from the bark of Drimys winteri (Winteraceae). Its structure was elucidated based on spectroscopic evidence.

Shoot organogenesis in tissue culture of Drimys Winteri

Plant Science Letters, 1981
Abstract Calluses from stem explants of Drimys winteri Forst. (Winteraceae) initiated shoot organogenesis in vitro in hormone-containing media under light exposure. Shoots formed from callus-derived outgrowths and from the superficial callus layers of the explants. Light inhibited callus initiation but promoted growth of established cultures.

Isolation and identification of active compounds from Drimys winteri barks

Journal of Ethnopharmacology, 1998
The barks of Drimys winteri are used in folk medicine as a remedy to treat several diseases, including dolorous processes. Previous pre-clinical experiments carried out in our laboratories revealed that the hydroalcoholic extract of this plant showed anti-allergenic, anti-inflammatory and antinociceptive properties.

Drimys winteri and isodrimeninol decreased foam cell formation in THP-1 derived macrophages

Food and Chemical Toxicology, 2020
Early stages of atherosclerosis are characterizated for the uptake of oxidate low-density lipoprotein (oxLDL) by inflammatory macrophages in the arteries, promoting the foam cell formation. Drimys winteri is a native tree of Chile that produce drimane sesquiterpenoids, here it was evaluated the inhibitory foam cell formation by the total extract of ...

Monografía de canelo Drimys winteri

1998

Drimenol, isodrimeninol and polygodial isolated from Drimys winteri reduce monocyte adhesion to stimulated human endothelial cells

Food and Chemical Toxicology, 2020
The vascular endothelium is a continuous monolayer of endothelial cells that are in direct contact with the blood and its dysfunction is the starting process in the development of many pathological inflammatory disorders, such as atherosclerosis, which can result in death.

The Developmental Basis of Floral Variation inDrimys winteri(Winteraceae)

International Journal of Plant Sciences, 2001
Flowers within a tree of Drimys winteri vary markedly in floral organ number and arrangement. This variation can be linked to developmental differences between flowers in different parts of the inflorescence. Floral organ number varies most markedly between terminal and lateral flowers, whereas variation in organ arrangement is correlated with the ...

Chemical Composition of the Essential Oil fromDrimys winteriForst. Wood

Journal of Essential Oil Research, 2000
Abstract GC/MS analysis of the essential oil from the wood of Drimys winteri Forst. allowed the identification of 56 components and showed a high content of α-pinene (14.9%) and α-cubebene (10.9%).
