Hematopoietic (stem) cells—The elixir of life?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The aging of HSCs (hematopoietic stem cells) and the blood system leads to the decline of other organs. Rejuvenating aged HSCs improves the function of the blood system, slowing the aging of the heart, kidney, brain, and liver, and the occurrence of age‐related diseases.

Driven Widom-Rowlinson lattice gas

open access: yes, 2018
In the Widom-Rowlinson lattice gas, two particle species (A, B) diffuse freely via particle-hole exchange, subject to both on-site exclusion and prohibition of A-B nearest-neighbor pairs.

Structural insights into lacto‐N‐biose I recognition by a family 32 carbohydrate‐binding module from Bifidobacterium bifidum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

OJO, MIRADA Y PULSIÓN: UN RECORRIDO METAPSICOLÓGICO FREUDIANO

open access: yesAffectio Societatis, 2015
This essay explores some of the metapsychological foundations about the gaze as well as the importance of the function of the eye in the Freudian theoretical production, aware that the eye and the gaze are not the same.

Simulated breath waveform control [PDF]

open access: yes, 1972
Subsystem was developed which provides twelve waveform controls to breath drive mechanism. Twelve position, magnetically actuated rotary switch is connected to one end of crankshaft drive, such that it makes one complete revolution for each simulated ...

The role and implications of mammalian cellular circadian entrainment

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
At their most fundamental level, mammalian circadian rhythms occur inside every individual cell. To tell the correct time, cells must align (or ‘entrain’) their circadian rhythm to the external environment. In this review, we highlight how cells entrain to the major circadian cues of light, feeding and temperature, and the implications this has for our

TRANSFERENCIA Y PULSIÓN: EJES DE LA CLÍNICA ANALÍTICA

open access: yesAffectio Societatis, 2015
This paper takes Jacques Lacan's work (1964) as its starting point, in which he aims to place the fundamental axes of the analytic clinic. For this purpose, he chooses two of them –transference and drive– since he considers they represent a connecting ...

Self-locking telescoping manipulator arm [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
A telescoping manipulator arm and pivotable finger assembly are disclosed. The telescoping arm assembly includes a generally T-shaped arm having three outwardly extending fingers guided on grooved roller guides to compensate for environmental variations.

Conditional control of quantum beats in a cavity QED system

open access: yes, 2011
We probe a ground-state superposition that produces a quantum beat in the intensity correlation of a two-mode cavity QED system. We mix drive with scattered light from an atomic beam traversing the cavity, and effectively measure the interference between
