Leveraging Explainable Machine Learning to Decipher Ecosystem Health and Nonlinear Dynamics in the Henan Yellow River Basin

open access: yesLand
Addressing national goals for ecological conservation in the Yellow River Basin, this study focuses on its Henan segment (HYRB). We developed a VOR-SQ assessment framework by augmenting the classic Vitality–Organization–Resilience model with ecosystem ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Spatial–Temporal Differentiation and Driving Factors of Cultivated Land Use Transition in Sino–Vietnamese Border Areas

open access: yesLand
Understanding the transformation of cultivated land use is crucial for advancing sustainable development goals related to food security. However, in mountainous regions, there is a lack of comprehensive studies that fully account for the diverse factors ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Coordination and Driving Mechanism of Water-Energy-Food-Ecology Coupling System in Inner-Mongolia Reaches of Yellow River Based on Coupling Coordination Degree Model

open access: yesRenmin Zhujiang
In order to realize the high quality and sustainable development of the Inner-Mongolia Reaches of Yellow River, this paper took Dalad Banner and its townships as research objects and constructed a water-energy-food-ecology (W-E-F-E) coupling coordination

Dynamic Evolution and Driving Mechanism of a Multi-Agent Green Technology Cooperation Innovation Network: Empirical Evidence Based on Exponential Random Graph Model

open access: yesSystems
As a crucial vehicle for green technological innovation, cooperative networks significantly promote resource integration and knowledge sharing. Yet, their dynamic evolution and micro-mechanism remain underexplored.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Remote sensing assessment of carbon balance vis-a-vis energy-related emissions and vegetation sequestration in a typical arid region of China from 2001 to 2020

open access: yesInternational Journal of Digital Earth
Since 2000, the Western Development Strategy and warming-humidification of Northwest China have led to notable changes in Xinjiang’s carbon emissions and sequestration. Understanding the regional carbon budget is key to sustainable development.
