Spatiotemporal Evolution and Driving Mechanism of Land Use Carbon Emissions (LUCE) in Coastal Areas—A Case Study of Hainan Island

open access: yesLand
Addressing land use carbon emissions (LUCE) is critical for mitigating climate change. Using multi-source heterogeneous data from 2010 to 2020, with Land use transition matrix and Kaya-LMDI model, this paper analyzes the spatiotemporal evolution and ...

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Identification of Natural and Anthropogenic Drivers of Vegetation Change in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Megacity Region

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2019
Identifying the natural and anthropogenic mechanisms of vegetation changes is the basis for adapting to climate change and optimizing human activities. The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei megacity region, which is characterized by significant geomorphic gradients,

Driving pressure in mechanical ventilation: A review

open access: yesWorld Journal of Critical Care Medicine
Driving pressure (∆P) is a core therapeutic component of mechanical ventilation (MV). Varying levels of ∆P have been employed during MV depending on the type of underlying pathology and severity of injury. However, ∆P levels have also been shown to closely impact hard endpoints such as mortality. Considering this, conducting an in-depth review of ∆P as

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

An Analysis of the Spatiotemporal Evolution, Key Control Features, and Driving Mechanisms of Carbon Source/Sink in the Continental Ecosystem of China’s Shandong Province from 2001 to 2020

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information
Continental ecosystems are crucial constituents of the worldwide carbon process, and their carbon source and sink processes are highly sensitive to human-induced climate change.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

The pyruvate generator is a common phenomenon in mitochondria from different rat and mouse brain regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The pyruvate generator, which causes activation of respiration by extra‐mitochondrial Ca2+, is also present and functional in rat brainstem mitochondria, as it is in other brain regions. This finding is confirmed by experiments with a fully reconstituted malate–aspartate shuttle (MAS).

Spatiotemporal variations in rain-on-snow below an elevation of 5000 m on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau

open access: yesShui kexue jinzhan
Rain-on-snow (ROS) significantly impacts ecohydrological processes on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and the study of the spatiotemporal variations in ROS is crucial for water resource management in the region.
