Condensation Dynamics and Droplet Size Distribution
ASME 2017 15th International Conference on Nanochannels, Microchannels, and Minichannels, 2017Condensation phenomena are important for several engineering fields including HVAC, refrigeration, distillation/desalination of water, dehumidification, aerospace, and water harvesting applications. In this work, Microsphere Photolithography (MPL), a low-cost, bottom-up fabrication technique, was used for fabricating a silica nanopillar surface (0.7 μm

On the size distribution of cloud droplets
Atmospheric Research, 1995Abstract The cloud droplet size distribution pattern of statistical significance is addressed after discussing the four uncertainties (subjective, measurement, mathematical and instinctive) about the classical “one-to-one” descriptions. The case study shows that the Weibull distribution n(D) = N0Dq−1exp( −λDq) could be the distribution pattern.

Calculation of Droplet Size Distribution in Condensing Flow
Volume 1: Symposia, Parts A and B, 2006Condensing flows can be found in a large variety of industrial machinery such as steam turbines and supersonic gas conditioners. In many of these applications, it is very important to predict the droplet size distributions accurately. In the present research, the droplet size distribution in condensing flows is investigated numerically.

Initial droplet size distribution in miniemulsion polymerization
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2003AbstractThe initial droplet size distribution of miniemulsions has not yet been measured. It is deduced from previous experimental results that the distribution is broad. Furthermore, the small fraction of the distribution, depending on the nonideality of the cosurfactant–monomer system, may not be stable.

Cloud-droplet-size distribution from lidar multiple-scattering measurements
Applied Optics, 1995A method for calculating droplet-size distribution in atmospheric clouds is presented, based on measurement of laser backscattering and multiple scattering from water clouds. The lidar uses a Nd:YAG laser that emits short pulses at a moderate repetition rate. The backscattering, which is composed mainly of single scattering, is measured with a detector

Droplet size distributions of nebulised aerosols for inhalation therapy
Clinical Physics and Physiological Measurement, 1986Jet nebulisers are used commonly for aerosol therapy in patients with asthma and bronchitis, but the manufacturers' information regarding aerosol droplet size is often inadequate. In this study, mass median diameter, geometric standard deviation and the percentage of the aerosol mass contained within 'respirable' (less than 5 micron diameter) droplets ...

Fluid bed agglomeration with a narrow droplet size distribution
International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 2000In the fluid bed agglomeration processes liquid distribution influences the agglomerate growth. We developed a new nozzle that produces uniform droplets, which allows droplets to be easily controlled in size independently of liquid- and airflow of the nozzle.

Droplet-size distribution and stability of lipid injectable emulsions
American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy, 2009The droplet-size distribution (DSD) and stability of multiple lots of lipid injectable emulsions were studied.A total of 234 commercial batches of Intralipid (Fresenius Kabi, Uppsala, Sweden) were characterized, and the influence of the emulsions' oil content on samples packaged in single- and three-chamber bags was tested. Larger-sized lipid particles

Cloud Condensation Nucleus Size Distributions and Their Effects on Cloud Droplet Size Distributions
Journal of the Atmospheric Sciences, 1977Abstract Cloud droplet size distributions, calculated from cloud condensation nucleus (CCN) measurements made beneath non-raining, warm clouds in western and eastern Washington State, show reasonable agreement with droplet size distributions measured in the clouds.
