Standardizing Spray Droplet Size Distributions
2022An increasing number of companies and institutions have facilities that allow for the evaluation of droplet size associated with spray application from agrochemical nozzles. In response to the newly launched Council of Producers and Distributors of Agrotechnology (CPDA) Application Enhancement Program (AEP), there is an immediate need for a tool that ...

Sizes distributions of large He droplets
Chemical Physics Letters, 2014Abstract The size distribution and droplet flux in a beam of large He droplets of about 1010 atoms were measured. Single droplets in the beam were isolated and subjected to multiple ionization events in the electron beam ionization region resulting in a burst of ejected He2+ ions which was analyzed via quadrupole mass spectrometry.

Size from Specular Highlights for Analyzing Droplet Size Distributions
2009In mechanical engineering, heat-transfer models by dropwise condensation are under development. The condensation process is captured by taking many pictures, which show the formation of droplets, of which the size distribution and area coverage are of interest for model improvement.

Droplet size distribution and ice shapes
36th AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting and Exhibit, 1998Since aircraft operate in freezing rain (ZR) and freezing drizzle (ZL) during the winter months, it is important that we recognize the supercooled large droplet (SLD)1 environment and analyze its impact on aircraft operation and performance. ZR and ZL are subsets of SLD conditions.

Droplet size distributions in cryogenic flash atomization
International Journal of Multiphase Flow, 2021Abstract Flash atomization can occur in rocket thrusters operated at near vaccum conditions just prior to ignition when cryogenic propellants are injected into the reaction chamber. Although the morphology of flashing sprays has been widely studied, empirical observations of the primary breakup mechanisms at the micro-scale are currently not feasible.

Condensation Dynamics and Droplet Size Distribution
ASME 2017 15th International Conference on Nanochannels, Microchannels, and Minichannels, 2017Condensation phenomena are important for several engineering fields including HVAC, refrigeration, distillation/desalination of water, dehumidification, aerospace, and water harvesting applications. In this work, Microsphere Photolithography (MPL), a low-cost, bottom-up fabrication technique, was used for fabricating a silica nanopillar surface (0.7 μm

Fluid bed agglomeration with a narrow droplet size distribution
International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 2000In the fluid bed agglomeration processes liquid distribution influences the agglomerate growth. We developed a new nozzle that produces uniform droplets, which allows droplets to be easily controlled in size independently of liquid- and airflow of the nozzle.

Droplet size distributions of nebulised aerosols for inhalation therapy
Clinical Physics and Physiological Measurement, 1986Jet nebulisers are used commonly for aerosol therapy in patients with asthma and bronchitis, but the manufacturers' information regarding aerosol droplet size is often inadequate. In this study, mass median diameter, geometric standard deviation and the percentage of the aerosol mass contained within 'respirable' (less than 5 micron diameter) droplets ...
