A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Bridging the condensation–collision size gap: a direct numerical simulation of continuous droplet growth in turbulent clouds [PDF]
In most previous direct numerical simulation (DNS) studies on droplet growth in turbulence, condensational growth and collisional growth were treated separately.

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Droplet-Turbulence interactions and quasi-equilibrium dynamics in turbulent emulsions
We perform direct numerical simulations (DNS) of emulsions in homogeneous isotropic turbulence using a pseudopotential lattice-Boltzmann (PP-LB) method.

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Droplet digital polymerase chain reaction for rapid broad‐spectrum detection of bloodstream infections [PDF]
Summary The droplet digital polymerase chain reaction (ddPCR) is a novel molecular technique that allows rapid quantification of rare target DNA sequences. Aim of this study was to explore the feasibility of the ddPCR technique to detect pathogen DNA in whole blood and ...

Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...
