Most MmpLs transport lipids and glycolipids of the complex mycomembrane of mycobacteria. This study shows that MmpL10 from Mycobacterium smegmatis, the transporter of the trehalose polyphosphate precursor, harbors a coiled‐coil‐like extension. Biochemical and electron microscopy studies demonstrate that the coiled‐coil enables MmpL10 to trimerize.

Coalescence delay mediated by the gas layer during the impact of hot droplets [PDF]
Coalescence may not occur immediately when droplets impact a liquid film. Despite the prevalence of the high-temperature condition during the impact process in many applications, the effect of droplet temperature on droplet coalescence is rarely considered.

We quantified and cultured circulating tumor cells (CTCs) of 62 patients with various cancer types and generated CTC‐derived tumoroid models from two salivary gland cancer patients. Cellular liquid biopsy‐derived information enabled molecular genetic assessment of systemic disease heterogeneity and functional testing for therapy selection in both ...

On the interactions between a propagating shock wave and evaporating water droplets [PDF]
One-dimensional numerical simulations based on hybrid Eulerian-Lagrangian approach are performed to investigate the interactions between propagating shock waves and dispersed evaporating water droplets in two-phase gas-droplet flows. Two-way coupling for interphase exchanges of mass, momentum and energy is adopted. Parametric study on shock attenuation,

Modeling the excess velocity of low-viscous Taylor droplets in square microchannels
Microscopic multiphase flows have gained broad interest due to their capability to transfer processes into new operational windows and achieving significant process intensification.

The authors applied joint/mixed models that predict mortality of trifluridine/tipiracil‐treated metastatic colorectal cancer patients based on circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) trajectories. Patients at high risk of death could be spared aggressive therapy with the prospect of a higher quality of life in their remaining lifetime, whereas patients with a ...

Leidenfrost evaporation of water droplet
The present paper examines the behaviour of a single large droplet levitating over a hot surface, unsteady mass of the droplet, and heat transfer. It was assumed that the evaporation from the upper surface of the droplet is negligibly small compared with

TOMM20 increases cancer aggressiveness by maintaining a reduced state with increased NADH and NADPH levels, oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), and apoptosis resistance while reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. Conversely, CRISPR‐Cas9 knockdown of TOMM20 alters these cancer‐aggressive traits.

Demonstration of a droplet electrohydrodynamic blower in aerosols [PDF]
Despite a rigorous analysis of nonlinear electrohydrodynamics of a liquid droplet deformation in air, its influence on the surrounding gas phase has received less attention. We observed, air circulations created due to large deformation oscillations of a pendant water droplet subject to a resonating electric field act like a micro or mini blower in the
