Effects of thermal perturbations on magnetic dissipative droplet solitons [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review B, 93, 144408 (2016), 2016
The magnetic dissipative droplet is a strongly nonlinear wave structure that can be stabilized in a thin film ferromagnet exhibiting perpendicular magnetic anisotropy by use of spin transfer torque. These structures have been observed experimentally at room temperature, showcasing their robustness against noise. Here, we quantify the effects of thermal

Plasma lipidomic and metabolomic profiles in high‐grade glioma patients before and after 72‐h presurgery water‐only fasting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Presurgery 72‐h fasting in GB patients leads to adaptations of plasma lipids and polar metabolites. Fasting reduces lysophosphatidylcholines and increases free fatty acids, shifts triglycerides toward long‐chain TGs and increases branched‐chain amino acids, alpha aminobutyric acid, and uric acid.

Heat transfer during droplet impact on a cold superhydrophobic surface via interfacial thermal mapping

open access: yesDroplet
Undesired heat transfer during droplet impact on cold surfaces can lead to ice formation and damage to renewable infrastructure, among others. To address this, superhydrophobic surfaces aim to minimize the droplet surface interaction thereby, holding ...

Leidenfrost Temperature on Trapezoidal Grooved Surface

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
In this study, we reported experimental results of a water droplet falling on trapezoidal grooved surfaces of heated silicon wafers with the groove width varied from 20 μm to 640 μm and the depth from 20 μm to 40 μm.

Modeling ambient temperature and relative humidity sensitivity of respiratory droplets and their role in Covid-19 outbreaks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
One of the many unresolved questions that revolves around the Covid-19 pandemic is whether local outbreaks can depend on ambient conditions like temperature and relative humidity.

Highly multiplexed digital PCR assay for simultaneous quantification of variant allele frequencies and copy number alterations of KRAS and GNAS in pancreatic cancer precursors

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining melting curve analysis enhances the multiplexing capability of digital PCR. Here, we developed a 14‐plex assay to simultaneously measure single nucleotide mutations and amplifications of KRAS and GNAS, which are common driver genes in pancreatic cancer precursors. This assay accurately quantified variant allele frequencies in clinical samples

The atypical KRASQ22K mutation directs TGF‐β response towards partial epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in patient‐derived colorectal cancer tumoroids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TGF‐β has a complex role in cancer, exhibiting both tumor‐suppressive and tumor‐promoting properties. Using a series of differentiated tumoroids, derived from different stages and mutational background of colorectal cancer patients, we replicate this duality of TGF‐β in vitro. Notably, the atypical but highly aggressive KRASQ22K mutation rendered early‐
