The bounce-splash of a viscoelastic drop

open access: yes, 2008
This is an entry for the Gallery of Fluid Motion of the 61st Annual Meeting of the APS-DFD (fluid dynamics videos). This video shows the collision and rebound of viscoelastic drops against a solid wall. Using a high speed camera, the process of approach,

The excess equimolar radius of liquid drops

open access: yes, 2011
The curvature dependence of the surface tension is related to the excess equimolar radius of liquid drops, i.e., the deviation of the equimolar radius from that defined with the macroscopic capillarity approximation. Based on the Tolman [J. Chem.

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

Inhibition of CDK9 enhances AML cell death induced by combined venetoclax and azacitidine

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The CDK9 inhibitor AZD4573 downregulates c‐MYC and MCL‐1 to induce death of cytarabine (AraC)‐resistant AML cells. This enhances VEN + AZA‐induced cell death significantly more than any combination of two of the three drugs in AraC‐resistant AML cells.

Physical phenomena in containerless glass processing [PDF]

open access: yes
Flight experiments are planned on drops containing bubbles. The experiments involve stimulating the drop via non-uniform heating and rotation. The resulting trajectories of the bubbles as well as the shapes of the drops and bubble will be videotaped and ...

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

NSAIDs eye drops versus steroidal eye drops after phacoemulsification cataract surgery

open access: yesDelta Journal of Ophthalmology, 2018
Purpose The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy NSAID eye drops in comparison with topical steroids following phacoemulsification cataract surgery. Patients and methods This prospective study included 120 patients with senile cataract who were

Dynamics of Perfectly Wetting Drops under Gravity

open access: yes, 2006
We study the dynamics of small droplets of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) silicone oil on a vertical, perfectly-wetting, silicon wafer. Interference videomicroscopy allows us to capture the dynamics of these droplets.

Direct observation of drops on slippery lubricant-infused surfaces.

open access: yesSoft Matter, 2015
For a liquid droplet to slide down a solid planar surface, the surface usually has to be tilted above a critical angle of approximately 10°. By contrast, droplets of nearly any liquid "slip" on lubricant-infused textured surfaces - so termed slippery ...

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...
