Metabolomic and transcriptomic analyses reveal MYB-Related genes involved in drought resistance in grafted potatoes via the flavonoid pathway

open access: yesPlant Stress
Drought poses a significant challenge to global potato production. Grafting, a classical horticultural technique, has the potential to enhance resistance to both biotic and abiotic stresses.

Adaptation to Climate Change and the Role of Agrobiodiversity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The world’s biological diversity is eroding. This concerns in particular the entire agri-cultural diversity of genes, species and their agrarian ecosystems, the resource base for food. With species becoming extinct, mankind is jeopardised.

Maximizing Energy Generation in Agrivoltaic Systems: A Study of Bifacial and Monofacial Modules With Consideration of Module Height and Albedo Impact

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
This study evaluates the performance of bifacial and monofacial PV modules in agrivoltaic systems using PVsyst simulations. Real albedo measurements from a wheat field were incorporated to ensure realistic results. Bifacial modules demonstrated a 19.46% increase in energy yield compared to monofacial ones.

Examining the Characteristics of Drought Resistance Under Different Types of Extreme Drought in Inner Mongolia Grassland, China

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Extreme drought events may become more frequent with climate change. Understanding the impact of extreme drought on grassland ecosystems is therefore crucial for the long-term sustainability of ecosystems.

Functional Bread From Bambara Groundnut and Orange Peel Attenuates Hyperglycemia and Oxidative Stress in a High‐Fat Diet/Streptozotocin‐Induced Type 2 Diabetes Rat Model

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, EarlyView.
This study evaluated Bambara groundnut–wheat composite bread fortified with orange peel in diabetic rats. Diets significantly lowered blood glucose, inhibited α‐glucosidase and α‐amylase, and boosted antioxidant enzymes compared to controls. Results emphasize BG‐based functional foods' potential to help manage type 2 diabetes through regulation of ...

Plant drought stress: physiological, biochemical and molecular mechanisms

open access: yesPlant Stress
Drought is a severe constraint that affects growth and limits plant productivity on a global scale and its impact is increasing with climate change. To adapt to moisture gradients in soil, plants alter their growth and physiology.

Monitoring animal movement diversity as a component of biodiversity

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and the Environment, EarlyView.
Animal movement is increasingly being quantified in novel ways, with high potential for integration into broad‐scale efforts to monitor biological diversity. Here, we define movement diversity as a form of biodiversity, measuring variation in animal movement from the level of individual animals to communities. We present a framework to develop a common
