Generation of cynomolgus monkey capsid-specific positive control cells for IFNγ ELISpot assays for adeno-associated gene therapy applications

open access: yesJournal of Immunotoxicology
Cell-mediated immune (CMI) responses to adeno-associated virus (AAV) can lead to tissue damage and loss of therapeutic transgene expression. Identifying robust biomarkers and mechanisms of CMI can aid clinical practice and advancement of AAV gene ...

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Fevogrit, a polyherbal medicine, mitigates endotoxin (lipopolysaccharide)‐induced fever in Wistar rats by regulating pro‐inflammatory cytokine levels

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine
Background Fever is characterized by an upregulation of the thermoregulatory set‐point after the body encounters any pathological challenge. It is accompanied by uncomfortable sickness behaviors and may be harmful in patients with other comorbidities. We

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Induction and drug development

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2000
Enzyme induction is an undesirable drug interaction, effecting the efficacy of co-administered drugs, rather than safety. The number of clinically used drugs which induce P-450 enzymes is, in fact, quite limited. However, in certain disease areas (AIDS, epilepsy) many of the drugs used, whether for primary or secondary indications, have the potential ...

Neuropharmacology and drug development [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Medical Bulletin, 2003
Positron emission tomography (PET) and allied non-invasive imaging techniques are being increasingly embraced by the pharmaceutical industry. These imaging modalities allow the assessment of novel drug action in man at a very early stage of the drug's discovery and development process; in turn, this enables earlier decision making about the ...

Comparing self‐reported race and genetic ancestry for identifying potential differentially methylated sites in endometrial cancer: insights from African ancestry proportions using machine learning models

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Integrating ancestry, differential methylation analysis, and machine learning, we identified robust epigenetic signature genes (ESGs) and Core‐ESGs in Black and White women with endometrial cancer. Core‐ESGs (namely APOBEC1 and PLEKHG5) methylation levels were significantly associated with survival, with tumors from high African ancestry (THA) showing ...

Patents and pharmaceutical drugs : understanding the pressures on developing countries [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper offers a discussion to the question of why there are pressures on developing countries for introducing and/or reinforcing patent protection to pharmaceutical drugs. Patent protection is an important component of a complex strategy developed by

Cytokines Driven Anti-Inflammatory and Anti-Psoriasis Like Efficacies of Nutraceutical Sea Buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides) Oil

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2019
Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease characterized by circumscribed, red, thickened plaques with overlying silvery white scales. It is associated with the release of pro-inflammatory mediators that lead to the development of edema and ...

Multidimensional OMICs reveal ARID1A orchestrated control of DNA damage, splicing, and cell cycle in normal‐like and malignant urothelial cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the frequently mutated chromatin remodeler ARID1A, a subunit of the SWI/SNF cBAF complex, results in less open chromatin, alternative splicing, and the failure to stop cells from progressing through the cell cycle after DNA damage in bladder (cancer) cells. Created in BioRender. Epigenetic regulators, such as the SWI/SNF complex, with important
