The heterodimeric amino acid transporters (HAT) of the SLC7/SLC3 family: A structure−function relationships and relevance to human pathology

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Heterodimeric amino acid transporters consist of SLC7 and SLC3 family proteins arranged in a conserved structural organization. They regulate nutrient transport across cell membranes, supporting essential cellular functions. These transporters also contribute to xenobiotic/drug uptake and distribution.

Regulation of Drug Metabolism by the Interplay of Inflammatory Signaling, Steatosis, and Xeno-Sensing Receptors in HepaRG Cells

open access: yes, 2018
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), characterized by triglyceride deposition in hepatocytes due to imbalanced lipid homeostasis, is of increasing concern in Western countries, with progression to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), liver ...

AtriplaR/anti-TB Combination in TB/HIV Patients. Drug in Focus. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Co-administration of anti-tuberculosis and antiretroviral therapy is often inevitable in high-burden countries where tuberculosis is the most common opportunistic infection associated with HIV/AIDS. Concurrent use of rifampicin and several antiretroviral

A context‐dependent modulatory role for eIF6 in acquired resistance to vemurafenib in melanoma

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Acquired resistance to vemurafenib upregulates the translation factor eIF6 in melanoma cells. Silencing eIF6 in resistant cells reduces proliferation and partially restores drug sensitivity, whereas its overexpression increases sensitivity across melanoma lines regardless of BRAF status, via modulation of mTOR, S6K, and MAPK signaling.

Pharmacodynamic-Driven Sequence-Dependent Synergy Effects in Pemetrexed-Osimertinib Combination Against Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC): Optimizing Synergy Through Sequential Interval

open access: yesPharmaceutics
Background: Combining pemetrexed (PEM) with Osimertinib (OSI) improves outcomes in epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-mutant non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), but optimal scheduling remains undefined. Sequential PEM → OSI strategies may outperform

The ubiquitin system in normal and infected germinal center B cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The ubiquitin system plays a central role in germinal center (GC) B cells, influencing differentiation to long‐lived memory B cells. Oncogenic gammaherpesviruses gain access to memory B cells by establishing latency in GC B cells. Mapping ubiquitin mechanisms in normal and infected GC B cells will define specific molecular circuits in B cells germane ...

Increased Levels of Fatty Acids Contributed to Induction of Hepatic CYP3A4 Activity Induced by Diabetes — In Vitro Evidence From HepG2 Cell and Fa2N-4 Cell Lines

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2014
Accumulating evidences have shown that diabetes upregulated the function and expression of CYP3A4, but the mechanism remained unclear. In this study, HepG2 cells were incubated with serum from diabetic rats induced by streptozotocin, and the activity of ...

Targeting Endothelial Cell Metabolism by Inhibition of Pyruvate Dehydrogenase Kinase and Glutaminase-1.

open access: yes, 2020
Targeting endothelial cell (EC) metabolism should impair angiogenesis, regardless of how many angiogenic signals are present. The dependency of proliferating ECs on glucose and glutamine for energy and biomass production opens new opportunities for anti ...
