Mathematical Modeling of Drug Use: The Dynamics of Monosubstance Dependence for Two Addictive Drugs [PDF]

open access: yesThe Pi Mu Epsilon Journal, Vol. 14, No. 7, pp. 449-462. 2017, 2022
Based on previous work done in this field, we build a dynamical system that describes changes in drug addiction in an isolated population when two addictive substances are available simultaneously. We then use our model to investigate whether the system captures the process of users switching drug habits.

Mesoporous Silica as a Carrier for Amorphous Solid Dispersion [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmaceutical research,2017, Vol 16, Issue 6, pages 1-19, 2017
In the past decade, the discovery of active pharmaceutical substances with high therapeutic value but poor aqueous solubility has increased, thus making it challenging to formulate these compounds as oral dosage forms. The bioavailability of these drugs can be increased by formulating these drugs as an amorphous drug delivery system.

Drugs Resistance Analysis from Scarce Health Records via Multi-task Graph Representation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Clinicians prescribe antibiotics by looking at the patient's health record with an experienced eye. However, the therapy might be rendered futile if the patient has drug resistance. Determining drug resistance requires time-consuming laboratory-level testing while applying clinicians' heuristics in an automated way is difficult due to the categorical ...

Ileocolonic-Targeted JAK Inhibitor: A Safer and More Effective Treatment for Inflammatory Bowel Disease

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2022
Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitors, such as tofacitinib (Xeljanz) and filgotinib (Jyseleca), have been approved for treatment of ulcerative colitis with several other JAK inhibitors in late-stage clinical trials for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Challenges of Colistin Use in ICU and Therapeutic Drug Monitoring: A Literature Review

open access: yesAntibiotics, 2023
The emerging resistance of Gram-negative bacteria is a growing problem worldwide. Together with the financial cost, limited efficacy, and local unavailability of newer antibiotics or their combinations, it has led to the reintroduction of colistin as a ...

MOF-Based Polymeric Nanocomposite Films as Potential Materials for Drug Delivery Devices in Ocular Therapeutics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Novel MOF-based polymer nanocomposite films were successfully prepared using Zr-based UiO-67 as a metal-organic framework (MOF) and polyurethane (PU) as a polymeric matrix. Synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction (SXRPD) analysis confirms the improved stability of the UiO-67 embedded nanocrystals and scanning electron microscopy images confirm their ...

Extracellular stability of nanoparticulate drug carriers [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Pharmacal Research, 2013
Nanoparticulate (NP) drug carrier systems are attractive vehicles for selective drug delivery to solid tumors. Ideally, NPs should evade clearance by the reticuloendothelial system while maintaining the ability to interact with tumor cells and facilitate cellular uptake.

Exploring kinase DFG loop conformational stability with AlphaFold2-RAVE [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Kinases compose one of the largest fractions of the human proteome, and their misfunction is implicated in many diseases, in particular cancers. The ubiquitousness and structural similarities of kinases makes specific and effective drug design difficult. In particular, conformational variability due to the evolutionarily conserved DFG motif adopting in
