Abstract B17: Identification of drugs that synergize with immunotherapies
Cancer Immunology Research, 2020Abstract Introduction: Immune checkpoint blockers (ICB) revitalize the immune system against cancer cells and have led to breakthroughs in cancer treatment and unprecedented survival benefits. However, they are ineffective in the majority of advanced cancer patients.

Search for a Synergism with Different Drugs in the Field of Antiviral Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy, 1971Additional findings about the synergism between Rec. 15/0209 and Amantadine are reported. While it is clearly demonstrable in embryonated and de-embryonated chicken eggs by measuring both virus titer and virus RNA synthesis of CAM suspensions, the results are much less constant in the embryonated eggs by measuring HA in the allantoic fluids and over ...

Quantitative Aspects of Drug Antagonism and of Drug Synergism
1937It was shown in the last chapter that, in populations of animals, changes in sensitivity to drugs can be produced by a wide variety of causes, and that in some cases variations in sensitivity occur for which the causes are unknown. It seems justifiable to assume that if the condition of organisms is altered by the administration of one drug, then this ...

Synergism between staurosporine and drugs inducing endoplasmic reticulum stress
Biochemical Pharmacology, 2006Drugs causing endoplasmic reticulum or mitochondrial dysfunction may trigger apoptosis in eukaryotic cells. The thiol reagent dithiothreitol (DTT) belongs to the first group whereas the protein kinases inhibitor staurosporine acts on mitochondria. Since the endoplasmic reticulum and the mitochondrial pathways of apoptosis may converge in common steps ...

Absence of antimycobacterial synergism between garlic extract and antituberculosis drugs
Diagnostic Microbiology and Infectious Disease, 1987Garlic extract inhibited the growth of four strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, three strains of Mycobacterium avium-intracellulare, and three strains of Mycobacterium kansasii in concentrations ranging from 0.98 mg/ml to 2.94 mg/ml. Synergism could not be demonstrated when garlic extract was added to various concentrations of four commonly used ...

Evaluation of the effect of cavitation activity on drug-ultrasound synergisms
1993 Proceedings IEEE Ultrasonics Symposium, 1993The authors investigated the effect of therapeutic ultrasound (1 MHz; 0.5-4 W/cm2) on mammalian cells grown in culture in an exposure system that allowed measurement of sub-harmonic generation. They were able to correlate subharmonic generation in the cell samples, a signature of acoustic cavitation, with cell lysis.

Studies on the synergism of some hypotensive drugs with ethanol.
Polish journal of pharmacology and pharmacy, 1976Synergism of some hypotensive drugs with ethanol was studied for its influence on the central nervous system. A very strong central action of the drugs and ethanol administered simultaneously in subthreshold doses was observed. Intensity of synergism was calculated by comparing the results with the effective doses of each drug administered seperately.
