Saving Energy in Mobile Devices for On-Demand Multimedia Streaming -- A Cross-Layer Approach

open access: yes, 2014
This paper proposes a novel energy-efficient multimedia delivery system called EStreamer. First, we study the relationship between buffer size at the client, burst-shaped TCP-based multimedia traffic, and energy consumption of wireless network interfaces

Multifaceted Behavior and Functional Versatility of Ferritic Stainless Steels, Part I: Applications and Processing, a Review

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
This review investigates the processing‐microstructure‐property relationships in ferritic stainless steels (FSSs). It highlights advances in deformation behavior, heat treatments, surface modifications, and alloying effects. Theoretical models, including Johnson‐Mehl‐Avrami‐Kolmogorov, Arrhenius, nucleation theory, and diffusion theories, are discussed

Dissolution and reprecipitation of 14H-LPSO structure accompanied by dynamic recrystallization in hot-extruded Mg89Y4Zn2Li5 alloy

open access: yesJournal of Magnesium and Alloys, 2023
We investigate the variation induced in long-period stacking ordered (LPSO) structures, dynamic recrystallization (DRX), and mechanical performance of hot-extruded Mg89Y4Zn2Li5 alloys fabricated at different extrusion speeds (Ve = 0.4, 0.8, 1.0, 1.2 mm/s)

Multiphase‐Field Modeling of Discontinuous Dynamic Recrystallization

open access: yesPAMM, Volume 26, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Solid‐state processing techniques such as friction extrusion and friction surfacing have emerged as advanced methods for processing metallic alloys. These techniques utilize frictional heat and severe mechanical deformation to drive microstructure changes without reaching the melting point.

Evolution of Dynamic Recrystallization in 5CrNiMoV Steel during Hot Forming

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2020
The dynamic recrystallization (DRX) behavior of 5CrNiMoV steel was investigated through hot compression at temperatures of 830–1230°C and strain rates of 0.001–10 s−1.

Sampling Colourings of the Triangular Lattice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We show that the Glauber dynamics on proper 9-colourings of the triangular lattice is rapidly mixing, which allows for efficient sampling. Consequently, there is a fully polynomial randomised approximation scheme (FPRAS) for counting proper 9-colourings ...

Applications of Balanced Pairs

open access: yes, 2015
Let $(\mathscr{X}$, $\mathscr{Y})$ be a balanced pair in an abelian category. We first introduce the notion of cotorsion pairs relative to $(\mathscr{X}$, $\mathscr{Y})$, and then give some equivalent characterizations when a relative cotorsion pair is ...

The southwest Kalahari dune field does not emit dust post‐fire despite a lack of vegetation and above‐threshold winds

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 51, Issue 2, February 2026.
The southwest Kalahari dune field has resident fine grains which may be emitted as mineral dust after protective vegetation is removed by fire. However, low wind speeds, high initial surface cover, and the protective effect of biocrusts result in the low possibility of the southwest Kalahari emitting dust post‐fire.

A critical assessment of experimental investigation of dynamic recrystallization of metallic materials

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2020
Dynamic recrystallization (DRX) often takes place during hot deformation of metallic materials, which then exerts significant influence on the final microstructures and mechanical properties of the formed components.
