Organisation of dairy cattle herd reproduction

open access: yesБіологія тварин
A fairly high hereditary potential of cows of modern Ukrainian breeds in terms of the main traits of milk production is discussed. It was found that higher milk yield, content and amount of fat in milk are inherent in cows of the Ukrainian Black Speckled

Milk yield, periparturient diseases and body condition score as factors affecting the risk of fetal losses in high-yielding Holstein cows

open access: yesSpanish Journal of Agricultural Research, 2019
The objective of this study was to assess various risk factors affecting fetal losses in high-yielding Holstein cows in a hot environment. In a retrospective observational study, 14,384 records from Holstein cows from a large highly technified dairy herd

The Distribution and Identity of Edaphic Fungi in the McMurdo Dry Valleys [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Contrary to earlier assumptions, molecular evidence has demonstrated the presence of diverse and localized soil bacterial communities in the McMurdo Dry Valleys of Antarctica.

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Changes in Moisture entering the atmosphere of Iran and its relationship with seasonal wet and dry periods [PDF]

open access: yesتحقیقات کاربردی علوم جغرافیایی, 2018
Spatio-temporal variations of factors affecting the occurrence of precipitation can lead to a change in its amount. The atmospheric moisture is one of the most important factors for precipitation formation.

Invitation and guide to the 11th EDGG Field Workshop Grasslands of inneralpine dry valleys : part 1, Eastern Alps, Austria, 6-13 July 2018

open access: yes, 2018
Following an initial study of vascular plant diversity in the area of the Aosta valley (Wiesner et al. 2015), one of the driest regions of the inneralpine valleys, the authors came up with the idea to start a systematic investigation of the grassland ...

CEACAM1 participation in breast cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In invasive breast cancer (BC), CEACAM1 shifts from an apical to a uniform membranous/cytoplasmic pattern, or is lost, as tumors dedifferentiate, inversely tracking the Ki‐67 proliferative index. In MCF‐7 cells, only CEACAM1‐4L suppresses proliferation, repressing cell cycle and growth factor genes.

Somatostatin receptor 4 (SSTR4) is a tumor suppressor in cutaneous and head & neck squamous cell carcinomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study identifies somatostatin receptor 4 (Sstr4) as a critical tumor suppressor against skin and head/neck cancers (HNSCC, cSCC, and BCC). The loss of Sstr4 removes a check on cell growth, causing hyperactivation of the MAPK‐ERK signaling pathway (↑).

The Effect of the Periodic Drying Method on the Drying Time of Hazelnuts and Energy Utilization

open access: yesFoods
Hazelnut is a shelled fruit that is stored by drying and used as a snack or in industry. Since the hazelnut drying process is energy-intensive, there is a need for drying methods that will reduce the energy cost without lengthening the drying time. In this study, the effects of periodic drying of hazelnuts’ energy recovery, oil, and protein content, as
