Four‐Point Bending Tests at High Temperatures on Commercial MgO‐C Refractory Bricks with and Without Recyclate Considering Different Carbon Contents

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Four‐point bending tests are conducted in an argon atmosphere on commercial MgO‐C brick grades with and without MgO‐C recyclate from room temperature up to 1300 °C. No detrimental effect of the MgO‐C recyclates on bending strength is found. Instead, a decisive influence of the total carbon content is observed, with lower total carbon contents ...

Dry Synthesis of Defect Lead Titanates and Their Dielectric Properties

open access: yesNIPPON KAGAKU KAISHI, 1974
Lead titanates of types Pbi.xTiOs.x and Pbi-xNavTiOs-x+(vi2) were prepared by selid-solid reaction among PbOTiO and Na3CO3, with Pb/Ti mol ratiobe1ow unity Above chemical formuiae were proved to bg reasonable on a basis of the fact that mixed reqctapts with TiQ2 in excess gave rise to mondphasic preovskitesby firing.

Corrosion and Process Analysis of a Preoxidized MgO Recyclate‐Based Cermet Anode in Laboratory‐Scale Na‐Cryolite Molten Salt Electrolysis of Aluminum at 1000°C

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
EDX elemental map of the pre‐oxidized MgO–steel cermet anode cross section after electrolysis. The development of inert anodes for aluminum electrolysis remains challenging due to the high corrosivity of cryolite‐based melts at 950°C–1000°C. This study investigates the corrosion and process behavior of a carbon‐free MgO–steel cermet anode derived from ...

Pyramidal Structures on Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia after High Temperature Exposure at 1500°C: New Features on an Old Material

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...
