Critical Point Drying Method Using Dry Ice
Stain Technology, 1974A critical point drying method using dry ice (solid carbon dioxide) instead of liquid carbon dioxide is reported. After the specimens are placed in the chamber of the medical point drying apparatus, dry ice cut to the shape of the chamber is inserted. The chamber is closed and warmed to change the dry ice into liquid carbon dioxide.

There are several reasons for drying of polyacrylamide gels after gel electrophoresis; for example, it is necessary if autoradiography has to be performed using radioactive labeled proteins. Another reason may be to simply store the gel in the laboratory book. Aside laborious commercial solutions, the simple and cheap drying protocol presented here may

For some instances, protein gels need to be dried after SDS-PAGE, for example, if autoradiography should be performed from radioactive-labeled proteins after their separation on SDS-polyacrylamide gels. Another reason may be to simply store the gel in the laboratory book.

Drying methods for protein pharmaceuticals
Drug Discovery Today: Technologies, 2008Removal of water is a common method to prolong the storage stability of protein formulations. Traditionally, freeze-drying has been the method of choice, but spray drying and supercritical drying have gained increased interest in the past decade. The proper choice of drying technology has a significant impact on the final pharmaceutical product and on ...

Modern Modelling Methods in Drying
Transport in Porous Media, 2006Several modern modelling techniques are presented as tools for drying science and technology, namely pore networks, discrete element method and population balances. After first presenting results from their own research, the authors indicate what future contributions to a better understanding of the drying process at different levels—single porous ...

Modern Methods of Drying Nanomaterials
Transport in Porous Media, 2006This paper presents the types of nanomaterials whose technology requires drying during processing. The methods of drying of three groups of nanomaterials are discussed: nanoparticles, nanolayers (nanofilms), and nanoporous materials. Principally the method of spray drying using ultrasonic nebulizers and electrospraying is presented for the first group.

This paper presents the results of investigations of the moisture and temperature distribution in drying by the conduction method, by means of a radio-frequency electromagnetic field, and by the combined method of heating at a low pressure. The rate of drying by the combined heating method is twice higher than in conduction heating and 1.5 times higher
