Technology requirements for advanced earth-orbital transportation systems, dual-mode propulsion [PDF]

open access: yes
The application of dual-mode propulsion concepts to fully reusable single-stage-to-orbit (SSTO) vehicles is discussed. Dual-mode propulsion uses main rocket engines that consume hydrocarbon fuels as well as liquid hydrogen fuel.

Liquid biopsy epigenetics: establishing a molecular profile based on cell‐free DNA

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) fragments in plasma from cancer patients carry epigenetic signatures reflecting their cells of origin. These epigenetic features include DNA methylation, nucleosome modifications, and variations in fragmentation. This review describes the biological properties of each feature and explores optimal strategies for harnessing cfDNA ...

DMFFNet: Dual-Mode Multiscale Feature Fusion-Based Pedestrian Detection Method

open access: yesIEEE Access
Most contemporary pedestrian detection algorithms are based on visible light image detection. However, in environments with dim light, small targets, and easily occluded and cluttered backgrounds, single-mode visible light images relying on color ...

Intein‐based modular chimeric antigen receptor platform for specific CD19/CD20 co‐targeting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CARtein is a modular CAR platform that uses split inteins to splice antigen‐recognition modules onto a universal signaling backbone, enabling precise, scarless assembly without re‐engineering signaling domains. Deployed here against CD19 and CD20 in B‐cell malignancies, the design supports flexible multi‐antigen targeting to boost T‐cell activation and

Improving PARP inhibitor efficacy in bladder cancer without genetic BRCAness by combination with PLX51107

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.

One stone two birds: electrochemical and colorimetric dual-mode biosensor based on copper peroxide/covalent organic framework nanocomposite for ultrasensentive norovirus detection

open access: yesFood Science and Human Wellness
Norovirus (NoV) is regarded as one of the most common causes of foodborne diarrhea in the world. It is urgent to identify the pathogenic microorganism of the diarrhea in short time. In this work, we developed an electrochemical and colorimetric dual-mode

Efficiency enhancement of dual-mode traveling wave tubes at saturation and in the linear range by use of spent-beam refocusing and multistage depressed collectors [PDF]

open access: yes
An axisymmetric, multistage depressed collector of fixed geometric design was evaluated in conjunction with an octave-bandwidth, dual-mode TWT. The TWT was operated over a wide range of conditions to simulate different applications.

Dual Mode Polarizing Pellicle

open access: yesJournal of the American Society of Questioned Document Examiners, 2008
This article describes techniques for using an angled glass pellicle to merge the path of light reflected from a sample with the line of view, permitting glare-angle lighting/observation view normal to the surface. Among other applications, reflective properties of ballpoint and some other writing inks, observed under such conditions, may permit ...

Arylazopyrazole-modulated stable dual-mode phototransistors

open access: yesScience Advances
High-performance organic devices with dynamic and stable modulation are essential for building devices adaptable to the environment. However, the existing reported devices incorporating light-activated units exhibit either limited device stability or subpar optoelectronic properties.

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.
