Application and Research of Dual-Task Paradigms in Central Nervous System Diseases

open access: yes康复学报, 2022
The ability to perform two or more tasks simultaneously in activities of daily living is essential. The cognitive-motor dual-task paradigm refers to the simultaneous performance of a cognitive task and a motor task, where the cognitive task can be ...

Epigenetic reprogramming of lineage switching in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cancer cells rarely commit to a single identity. Epigenetic mechanisms and tumor microenvironment cues push epithelial cells toward flexible, hybrid states that can shift into mesenchymal, neuroendocrine, or stem‐like fates, driving metastasis, drug resistance, and tumor heterogeneity. Targeting the epigenetic regulators behind these transitions, using

Dual Task Interference in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesEuropean Neurological Review, 2009
Performing two tasks simultaneously (dual task performance) is a frequent activity in human life. Patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD) commonly have more difficulty performing dual tasks than healthy people. To date, research on the mechanisms of dual task interference in PD remains sparse.

Testing-the-limits of optimizing dual-task performance in younger and older adults

open access: yesFrontiers in Human Neuroscience, 2012
Impaired dual-task performance in younger and older adults can be improved with practice. Optimal conditions even allow for a (near) elimination of this impairment in younger adults.

Golgi enzymes are retrieved from the plasma membrane to the trans‐Golgi network

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Golgi enzymes are traditionally considered resident proteins retained within the Golgi apparatus. Here, we demonstrate that a subset transiently reaches the cell surface and is subsequently retrieved to the trans‐Golgi network via retrograde transport. Using a nanobody‐based toolkit, we uncover a dynamic trafficking cycle of several Golgi enzymes.

Effects of Gait and Cognitive Task Difficulty on Cognitive-Motor Interference in Aging

open access: yesJournal of Aging Research, 2012
Although gait-related dual-task interference in aging is well established, the effect of gait and cognitive task difficulty on dual-task interference is poorly understood.

Emerging experimental and computational methods for studying redox‐regulated structural transitions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Redox reactions can reshape proteins and alter how they behave in cells, with important consequences for health and disease. This review explores emerging experimental and computational approaches for discovering these redox‐sensitive protein switches, revealing their structural effects, and predicting their behavior, opening new opportunities to ...

Dual-task costs while turning.

open access: yes, 2020
Dual-task costs (DTC) of HD participants during turns; Results of a two-tailed independent sample t-test indicating significant cognitive interference observed for turn duration (p = 0.013) (A) and number of steps to turn (p = 0.029) (B) in HD compared ...

Running and Thinking: Unmasking the Lingering Effects of Sports Concussions Through Complex Dual-Task Testing

open access: yesSports
Objective: This study investigated gait and cognitive dual-task costs under a dual-task paradigm that was more challenging than the traditional tasks used in research. Methods: A total of 43 18–25-year-old male and female student athletes were recruited (

Feasibility of Dual-Task Gait Training for Community-Dwelling Adults after Stroke: A Case Series

open access: yesStroke Research and Treatment, 2014
This case series explored the feasibility and efficacy of cognitive-motor dual-task gait training in community-dwelling adults within 12 months of stroke. A secondary aim was to assess transfer of training to different dual-task combinations.
