The dual of nothing [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2002
We consider ``bubbles of nothing'' constructed by analytically continuing black hole solutions in Anti-de Sitter space. These provide interesting examples of smooth time-dependent backgrounds which can be studied through the AdS/CFT correspondence. Our examples include bubbles constructed from Schwarzschild-AdS, Kerr-AdS and Reissner-Nordstrom AdS. The

An alternative ready-to-use electrochemical immunosensor for point-of-care COVID-19 diagnosis using graphene screen-printed electrodes coupled with a 3D-printed portable potentiostat

open access: yesTalanta Open, 2022
A severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a cause of worldwide Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) disease pandemic. It is thus important to develop ultra-sensitive, rapid and easy-to-use methods for the identification of COVID-19 ...

A Dual-Stage Attention-Based Recurrent Neural Network for Time Series Prediction [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence, 2017
The Nonlinear autoregressive exogenous (NARX) model, which predicts the current value of a time series based upon its previous values as well as the current and past values of multiple driving (exogenous) series, has been studied for decades. Despite the

Dual Instantons [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2000
We show how to map the Belavin-Polyakov instantons of the O(3)-nonlinear $ -$model to a dual theory where they then appear as nontopological solitons. They are stationary points of the Euclidean action in the dual theory, and moreover, the dual action and the O(3)-nonlinear $ -$model action agree on shell.

THERMAL DECOMPOSITION KINETICS OF AN ENERGY COMPOSITE MATERIAL ON THE BASIS OF INERT BINDING

open access: yesФизико-химические аспекты изучения кластеров, наноструктур и наноматериалов, 2019
The results are presented of the study of thermal decomposition kinetics of the K – 2 model mixed energetic material, the main components of which are ammonium perchlorate, octogen, aluminum and an inert binder, polybutadiene, plasticized with ...

Salmon: fast and bias-aware quantification of transcript expression using dual-phase inference

open access: yesNature Methods, 2017
We introduce Salmon, a lightweight method for quantifying transcript abundance from RNA–seq reads. Salmon combines a new dual-phase parallel inference algorithm and feature-rich bias models with an ultra-fast read mapping procedure.

Grammatical number inflection in Arabic-speaking children and young adults with Down syndrome

open access: yesSouth African Journal of Communication Disorders, 2020
Background: Individuals with Down syndrome (DS) have more difficulties with the structural aspects of language, including morphology (concatenation and non-concatenation) and syntax (word order and grammatical/concord rules), than with other language ...

Effects of Different Montages of Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation on Haemodynamic Responses and Motor Performance in Acute Stroke: A Randomized Controlled Trial

open access: yesJournal of Rehabilitation Medicine, 2022
Objective: Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) has shown positive results in neurorehabilitation. However, there is limited evidence on its use in acute stroke, and unclear evidence regarding the best tDCS montage (anodal-, cathodal-, or ...
