Risk of hemorrhagic stroke in warfarin‐treated patients following heart valve replacement: Findings from the MAGPIE study

open access: yesIbrain, EarlyView.
Among 568 mechanical heart valve replacement patients in Bangladesh, hemorrhagic stroke occurred in 4.4% with 52% mortality. Severe pulmonary hypertension increased risk 4.4‐fold, and warfarin therapy ≥104 months nearly doubled the risk, highlighting the need for long‐term risk monitoring in anticoagulated valve patients.

Effectiveness of Two-Year Versus One-Year Use of Dual Antiplatelet Therapy in Reducing the Risk of Very Late Stent Thrombosis After Drug-Eluting Stent Implantation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Tehran University Heart Center, 2012
Background: Impact of 12 months’ versus 24 months’ use of dual antiplatelet therapy on the prevalence of stent thrombosis in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with the drug-eluting stent (DES) is not clear.

Dual Antiplatelet Therapy for Coronary Artery Disease

open access: yesCirculation Journal, 2015
Platelets initiate the formation of a thrombus at the site of an arterial injury, and the clotting cascade is activated as the thrombus matures. After coronary stent placement, dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) with aspirin and ticlopidine dramatically reduces the risk of stent thrombosis, compared with anticoagulation therapy, and has become the ...

Evaluating the impact of a newly established hospitalist medicine procedure service on length of stay and procedural outcomes: A retrospective propensity‐matched analysis

open access: yesJournal of Hospital Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Reliance on interventional radiology (IR) has been associated with delays in procedure completion and prolonged hospital length of stay (LOS). Hospitalist medicine procedure services (HMPS) have been proposed as a strategy to mitigate these inefficiencies, though outcomes of newly established programs composed of physicians with ...
