Max-Weight Revisited: Sequences of Non-Convex Optimisations Solving Convex Optimisations [PDF]
We investigate the connections between max-weight approaches and dual subgradient methods for convex optimisation. We find that strong connections exist and we establish a clean, unifying theoretical framework that includes both max-weight and dual ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Stable bundles on hypercomplex surfaces
A hypercomplex manifold is a manifold equipped with three complex structures I, J, K satisfying the quaternionic relations. Let M be a 4-dimensional compact smooth manifold equipped with a hypercomplex structure, and E be a vector bundle on M.

Poisson-Lie T-duality of String Effective Actions: A New Approach to the Dilaton Puzzle [PDF]
For a particular class of backgrounds, equations of motion for string sigma models targeted in mutually dual Poisson-Lie groups are equivalent. This phenomenon is called the Poisson-Lie T-duality.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Boundary Conditions and Unitarity: the Maxwell-Chern-Simons System in AdS_3/CFT_2 [PDF]
We consider the holography of the Abelian Maxwell-Chern-Simons (MCS) system in Lorentzian three-dimensional asymptotically-AdS spacetimes, and discuss a broad class of boundary conditions consistent with conservation of the symplectic structure.

This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Divergence functions are the non-symmetric “distance” on the manifold, Μθ, of parametric probability density functions over a measure space, (Χ,μ). Classical information geometry prescribes, on Μθ: (i) a Riemannian metric given by the Fisher information;

Dual harm is the co-occurrence of self-harm and aggression during an individual’s lifetime. This behaviour is especially prevalent within criminal justice and forensic settings.

Algebra of Lax Connection for T-Dual Models
We study relation between T-duality and integrability. We develop the Hamiltonian formalism for principal chiral model on general group manifold and on its T-dual image. We calculate the Poisson bracket of Lax connections in T-dual model and we show that
