Consensus with dual failure modes
IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems, 1991The problem of achieving consensus in a distributed system is discussed. Systems are treated in which either or both of two types of faults may occur: dormant (essentially omission and timing faults) and arbitrary (exhibiting arbitrary behavior, commonly referred to as Byzantine).

Normal Modes of Nonlinear Dual-Mode Systems
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1960A system consisting of two unequal masses, interconnected by a coupling spring, and each connected to an anchor spring, is examined. The springs may all be unequal and nonlinear, but each resists being compressed to the same degree as being stretched. The concept of normal modes is rigorously defined, and methods of finding them are given.

A description is given of the FL9/AC dual-mode locomotive developed for operation on the Metro-North Commuter Railroad. The locomotive (a modified FL9) was remanufactured to have: gate-turn-off (GTO) thyristor technology instead of silicon-controlled rectifiers; a 12-cylinder turbocharged engine; a single electrically driven air compressor; a blended ...

Design principles for a high pulse-up dual mode TWT employing dual electron beams are discussed. The tube employs a large hollow beam for CW mode operation and a reduced diameter, dense solid beam for the pulse mode. This scheme affords greater CW mode efficiency, reduced gain change between modes, and higher stability against backward wave oscillation

Dual Modes and Dual Emissions of an Amino-Naphthoquinone Derivative
Journal of Fluorescence, 20173-(1,4-Dioxo-1,4-dihydronaphthalen-2-yl-amino)benzoic acid shows multiple tunable fluorescence emissions depending on solvent, pH and wavelength of excitation. Independent dual fluorescence emissions are observed while exciting compound 3-(1,4-dioxo-1,4-dihydronaphthalen-2-yl-amino)benzoic acid in UV-region or in visible region.

Superconducting dual‐mode dual‐stage cross‐slotted filters
Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 2002AbstractThis Letter reports on the design and realization of HTS dual‐mode cross‐slotted filters presenting a more compact size if compared with the traditional dual‐mode patch filters. Dual‐stage filters operating in C band and presenting Chebyshev or quasi‐elliptical responses have been realized and tested by using YBa2Cu3O7‐x (YBCO) films.

Quadrature Dual Mode Index Modulation
IEEE Wireless Communications Letters, 2018Dual mode index modulation-based orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DM-OFDM) was recently proposed to enhance the spectral efficiency of the existing variants of OFDM with index modulation. In a DM-OFDM system, all subcarriers are activated and modulated by two distinct constellation diagrams. Consequently, additional information is implicitly

Dual Mode Canonical Waveguide Filters
MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest, 1977This paper introduces a new form of dual-mode narrow-bandpass waveguide cavity filter. The filters, which can be constructed from either dual mode circular or square waveguide cavities, can realize the optimum transfer functions (including the exact elliptic function response).

The Study of a Dual-Mode Ring Oscillator
IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems II: Express Briefs, 2011An analytical investigation of a dual-mode ring oscillator is presented. The ring oscillator is designed using a CMOS 0.18-μm technology with differential eight-stage delay cells employing auxiliary input devices. With a proper startup control, the oscillator operates in two different modes covering two different frequency bands.
