On hyper-dual vectors and angles with Pell, Pell-Lucas numbers

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics
In this paper, we introduce two types of hyper-dual numbers with components including Pell and Pell-Lucas numbers. This novel approach facilitates our understanding of hyper-dual numbers and properties of Pell and Pell-Lucas numbers.

Self-Dual Skyrmions on the Spheres $S^{2N+1}$

open access: yes, 2018
We construct self-dual sectors for scalar field theories on a $(2N+2)$-dimensional Minkowski space-time with target space being the $2N+1$-dimensional sphere $S^{2N+1}$.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

The Caenorhabditis elegans DPF‐3 and human DPP4 have tripeptidyl peptidase activity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV) family comprises serine proteases classically defined by their ability to remove dipeptides from the N‐termini of substrates, a feature that gave the family its name. Here, we report the discovery of a previously unrecognized tripeptidyl peptidase activity in DPPIV family members from two different species.

The asymptotic spectrum of graphs and the Shannon capacity

open access: yes, 2019
We introduce the asymptotic spectrum of graphs and apply the theory of asymptotic spectra of Strassen (J. Reine Angew. Math. 1988) to obtain a new dual characterisation of the Shannon capacity of graphs.

Crosstalk between the ribosome quality control‐associated E3 ubiquitin ligases LTN1 and RNF10

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of the E3 ligase LTN1, the ubiquitin‐like modifier UFM1, or the deubiquitinating enzyme UFSP2 disrupts endoplasmic reticulum–ribosome quality control (ER‐RQC), a pathway that removes stalled ribosomes and faulty proteins. This disruption may trigger a compensatory response to ER‐RQC defects, including increased expression of the E3 ligase RNF10 ...

Moderating Political Extremism: Single Round vs Runoff Elections under Plurality Rule [PDF]

open access: yes
We compare single ballot vs dual ballot elections under plurality rule, assuming sincere voting and allowing for partly endogenous party formation.

Hyper-Dual Leonardo Numbers

open access: yes, 2022
In the present paper, the hyper-dual Leonardo numbers will be introduced with the use of Leonardo numbers. Some algebraic properties of these numbers such as recurrence relation, generating function, Catalan’s and Cassini’s identity, Binet’s formula, sum formulas will also be obtained.

Interplay between circadian and other transcription factors—Implications for cycling transcriptome reprogramming

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This perspective highlights emerging insights into how the circadian transcription factor CLOCK:BMAL1 regulates chromatin architecture, cooperates with other transcription factors, and coordinates enhancer dynamics. We propose an updated framework for how circadian transcription factors operate within dynamic and multifactorial chromatin landscapes ...
