Resolving the Structural Duality of Graphene Grain Boundaries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Cantilever ncAFM resolves the atomic structure of grain boundaries in graphene, revealing coexisting stable and metastable types. Both contain pentagon/heptagon defects, but metastable GBs show irregular geometries. Modeling shows metastable GBs form under compression, exhibiting vertical corrugation, while stable GBs are flat.

THE DUAL RECIPROCITY BOUNDARY ELEMENT METHOD FOR ONE-DIMENSIONAL NONLINEAR PARABOLIC PARTIAL DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Sciences, 2023
This article describes a numerical method based on the dual reciprocity boundary elements method (DRBEM) for solving some well-known nonlinear parabolic partial differential equations (PDEs). The equations include the classic and generalized Fisher's equations, Allen-Cahn equation, Newell-Whithead equation, FitzHugh-Nagumo equation and generalized ...

Dual reciprocity hybrid boundary node method for free vibration analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
As a truly meshless method of boundary-type, the hybrid boundary node method (HBNM) has the advantages of both boundary element method (BEM) and meshless method. The main problem is that it is only suitable for the homogeneous problems.

Energetic Offset in Organic Solar Cells‐ Importance, Confusion and Outlook

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Energetic offsets in organic solar cells (OSCs) remain a subject of debate due to measurement‐ and lab‐dependent discrepancies. This Perspective clarifies the physical origins of these variations and identifies temperature‐dependent electro‐optical methods as a reliable approach to obtain consistent offset values.

Dual reciprocity hybrid boundary node method for 2-D elasticity with body force [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A boundary-type meshless method named dual reciprocity hybrid boundary node method (DRHBNM) is presented. It can be applied to solve elasticity problems with body force, centrifugal load, or other similar problems.

LEAD: Literature Enhanced Ab Initio Discovery of Nitride Dusting Layers for Enhanced Tunnel Magnetoresistance and Lower Resistance Magnetic Tunnel Junctions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) using MgO tunnel barriers face challenges of high resistance‐area product and low tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR). To discover alternative materials, Literature Enhanced Ab initio Discovery (LEAD) is developed. The LEAD‐predicted materials are theoretically evaluated, showing that MTJs with dusting of ScN or TiN on ...

Dual reciprocity boundary element method for iron corrosion in acidic solution [PDF]

open access: yesWIT Transactions on Engineering Sciences, Vol 54, 2007
This paper presents a hybrid two dimensional Dual Reciprocity Boundary Element Method (DRBEM) for modelling the primary reactions of iron corrosion in an acidic solution. The main focus is on the establishment of the DRBEM approach for this kind of problems in which the mathematical formulation is based on the Planck-Nerst law, the conservation of ...
