Phases of U (N c ) QCD3 from type 0 strings and Seiberg duality

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2019
We propose an embedding of U(N c ) QCD3 with a Chern-Simons term in string theory. The UV gauge theory lives on the worldvolume of a Hanany-Witten brane configuration in type 0B string theory in the presence of Sagnotti’s O′3 orientifold.

Coupling of branes and twisted self-duality in the Maxwell-Chern-Simons theory

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We study three approaches to electric-magnetic duality in the 4-dimensional Maxwell theory coupled to a dyonic point charge and in the 5-dimensional Maxwell-Chern-Simons (MCS) theory coupled to an electric point charge and a magnetic string charge.

A note on non-Lorentzian duality symmetries

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We work out non-Lorentzian dual actions for electromagnetism and linearised gravity, both in the Carrollian and Galilean cases. This is done in the same way as for Lorentzian theories, by first constructing a parent action that reduces to a pair of dual ...

On non-linear chiral 4-form theories in D = 10

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We consider properties of non-linear theories of a chiral 4-form gauge field A 4 in ten space-time dimensions with an emphasis on a subclass of these theories which are invariant under the D = 10 conformal symmetry. We show that general results regarding

Topological manipulations on ℝ symmetries of Abelian gauge theory

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
Performing topological manipulations is a fruitful way to understand global aspects of Quantum Field Theory (QFT). Such modifications are typically controlled by the notion of Topological QFT (TQFT) coupling across different codimensions.

SL 2(ℝ) symmetries of SymTFT and non-invertible U(1) symmetries of Maxwell theory

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
Recent proposals for the Symmetry Topological Filed Theory (SymTFT) of Maxwell theory admit a 0-form symmetry compatible with the classical SL 2(ℝ) duality of electromagnetism.
