This study was designed to uncover the antiviral compounds contained in Duchesneae Indicae. Two non-sulfated acidic heteropolysaccharides (DIP30 and DIP60) with anti-varicella-zoster virus (anti-VZV) activity were purified and investigated with a combination of DEAE C-52 ion-exchange chromatography, Sphacryl S-300 gel chromatography, high performance ...

Abstract Mock strawberry is a valuable ground cover species that has a strong adaptability and high ornamental values. Urban landscape soils are typically heterogeneous and of low fertility. We hypothesized that mock strawberry can grow uniformly in soils with patchy saline conditions because of physiological integration as a clonal species.

Reactive oxygen species (ROS)-related oxidative damages have been implicated in a wide variety of the pathological processes such as atherosclerosis, inflammation and carcinogenesis. A polysaccharide-enriched fraction (PEF) was isolated from Duchesnea chrysantha, a herbaceous plant, and its antioxidant activity was demonstrated using several assay ...

Separation and elucidation of anthocyanins in the fruit of mockstrawberry (Duchesnea indica Focke)
Natural Product Research, 2009Anthocyanin pigments in the fruit of mockstrawberry (Duchesnea indica Focke), were extracted with 0.1% HCl in ethanol, and the crude anthocyanin extract was purified by a C18 Sep-Pak cartridge open-column chromatography. High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with photodiode array detection and mass spectrometry (MS) was applied for the ...

Climate change may alter genetic diversity of Duchesnea indica, a clonal plant species
Biochemical Systematics and Ecology, 2016Climate change may alter the genetic diversity of plants. However, the relationship between genetic diversity in clonal plant species and climate change is unclear. To address this, we examined a representative clonal plant species, Duchesnea indica. We used microsatellite markers to analyze the genetic diversity of the species and used a correlation ...
