The influence of copper content on corrosion behavior of ductile iron and austempered ductile iron
The effect of copper content on corrosion behavior of ductile iron and austempered ductile iron was investigated in 0.5 mol dm-3 NaCl solution at T = 20°C by open circuit potential measurements, linear and potentiodynamic polarisation methods. Ductile iron specimens used in this paper had: 0.031 wt.% Cu and 0.91 wt.% Cu.

In this study, an attempt has been made to produce ductile iron or spheroidal graphite iron and to study its important properties with a view to reduce the import of machinery parts made of ductile iron. Locally available compressor scrap (i.e. the compressor cylinder) which is made from grey cast iron was used to produce ductile iron using a crucible ...

Abstract AUSTEMPERED DUCTILE IRON has high strength with excellent toughness and ductility. Its strength is twice that of conventional ductile irons, comparable to heat-treated wrought steels. Composition is balanced to provide foundry compatibility, minimal segregation and good response to austempering.

Ductility Loss in Ductile Cast Iron with Internal Hydrogen
Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A, 2013Hydrogen-induced ductility loss in ductile cast iron (DCI) was studied by conducting a series of tensile tests with three different crosshead speeds. By utilizing the thermal desorption spectroscopy and the hydrogen microprint technique, it was found that most of the solute hydrogen was diffusive and mainly segregated at the graphite, graphite/matrix ...

Role of austenite in promoting ductility in an austempered ductile iron
Materials Science and Technology, 1997AbstractMeasurements of the austempering kinetics and mechanical properties of an alloy ductile iron after single and stepped austempering treatments following austenitising at 920°C are presented. The kinetic and tensile data are analysed to show how the thermal and mechanical stability of the austenite phase vary with austempering treatment. Both the
