Extrusion vs. duplexing models of Himalayan mountain building 3: duplexing dominates from the Oligocene to Present

open access: yesInternational Geology Review, 2014
The Himalaya is a natural laboratory for studying mountain-building processes. Concepts of extrusion and duplexing have been proposed to dominate most phases of Himalayan evolution. Here, we examine the importance of these mechanisms for the evolution of the Himalayan crystalline core via an integrated investigation across the northern Kathmandu Nappe.

Crystal structure of a Fanconi anemia-associated nuclease homolog bound to 5′ flap DNA: basis of interstrand cross-link repair by FAN1 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Fanconi anemia (FA) is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder caused by defects in any of 15 FA genes responsible for processing DNA interstrand cross-links (ICLs).

Building blocks for recognition-encoded oligoesters that form H-bonded duplexes

open access: yesChemical Science, 2019
A long-short base-pairing scheme hinders intramolecular folding and allows the use of flexible backbones in duplex-forming oligomers.

Insights into DNA platination within unusual structural settings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
2D [1H, 15N] HSQC NMR spectroscopy has been used to monitor reaction and product formation between [Pt(15NH3)2I2] and nucleic acids possessing irregular topologies and containing site specific phosphorothioate substitution in the phosphodiester backbone.

Porphyrin-Substituted Dinucleotides: Synthesis and Spectroscopy

open access: yesCHIMIA, 2005
Deoxyuridine, which is substituted with either 5, 15-diphenyl porphyrin (DPP) or 5, 10, 15,20-tetraphenyl porphyrin (TPP) at the 5-position via an alkynyl linker, was dimerised to the homo- and hetero-porphyrin dinucleotide.

Synthesis, biophysical properties, and RNase H activity of 6’-difluoro[4.3.0]bicyclo-DNA

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2019
Here we present the synthesis, the biophysical properties, and the RNase H profile of 6’-difluorinated [4.3.0]bicyclo-DNA (6’-diF-bc4,3-DNA). The difluorinated thymidine phosphoramidite building block was synthesized starting from an already known gem ...

Structural basis of TFIIH activation for nucleotide excision repair. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Nucleotide excision repair (NER) is the major DNA repair pathway that removes UV-induced and bulky DNA lesions. There is currently no structure of NER intermediates, which form around the large multisubunit transcription factor IIH (TFIIH).
