Tensile deformation behavior of duplex stainless steel before and after thermal aging by EBSD

open access: yes工程科学学报, 2015
The effects of deformation degree and thermal aging on the tensile properties, phase boundaries, local strain distribution, coincidence site lattice(CSL) boundaries and orientation distribution of duplex stainless steels were investigated by electron ...

Double Kinetics of Intermetallic Phase Precipitation in UNS S32205 Duplex Stainless Steels Submitted to Isothermal Heat Treatment [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2017
One of the most studied deleterious phases in stainless steels is the sigma phase, due to its high potential to decrease the toughness and corrosion resistance of these steels.

Recycling End‐of‐Life Solid Oxide Cell Interconnect Assemblies into Commercial‐Grade AISI 304 Stainless Steels

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
This study validates a recycling pathway for converting interconnect assemblies from end‐of‐life SOC stacks into commercial‐grade AISI 304 steels. Using scrap‐based steelmaking operations, austenitic cast steels with <4.0% δ‐ferrite are successfully produced.

Study on Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion Resistance of Stainless Steels With Weld Seams

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials, 2020
Stainless steels are widely used in various industries due to their desirable combination of mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. However, corrosion of stainless steels was reported seriously on the weld seam areas, and it is not exceptive for

Classification of induced magnetic field signals for the microstructural characterization of sigma phase in duplex stainless steels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Duplex stainless steels present excellent mechanical and corrosion resistance properties. However, when heat treated at temperatures above 600 ºC, the undesirable tertiary sigma phaseis formed.

Influence of Heat Treatment Temperature on Crevice and Pitting Corrosion of UNS S32205 Duplex Stainless Steel

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Heat treatments that alter the proportions of austenite and ferrite phases or induce the precipitation of phases such as sigma in duplex stainless steel UNS S32205 make it more susceptible to pitting and crevice corrosion. However, the effects of these treatments are not always evident when analyzed using the cyclic polarization technique.

EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATIONS OF NITROGEN ALLOYED DUPLEX STAINLESS STEEL IN DRY MILLING PROCESS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Engineering Science and Technology, 2018
Duplex stainless steels are generally more difficult to cut because of their high toughness, low heat conductivity, more strain hardening rate and more built-up edge formation.

Effect of Postweld Heat Treatment on Laser‐Welded Duplex Stainless Steel: Crystallographic Patterns and Fatigue Behavior

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Laser welding of duplex stainless steel disrupts phase balance, promotes nitride precipitation, and reduces fatigue resistance. Postweld heat treatment restores austenite and dissolves nitrides, but the resulting crystallography and phase morphology still impair fatigue performance.

ASTM A923-Practice A application to identify intermetallic phases in a UNS S32750 superduplex welded joint [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Os aços inoxidáveis duplex e superduplex apresentam propriedades superiores aos aços inoxidáveis convencionais. Essa superioridade é baseada na composição química e em uma microestrutura balanceada (aproximadamente 50% de ferrita).

Computer Modeling of the Ferrite‐To‐Austenite Transformation in a Super‐Duplex Stainless Steel and the Important Role of Trans‐Interface Diffusion

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
An accurate moving boundary model for volume diffusion containing boundary conditions from trans‐interface diffusion (TID) simulates the austenite growth during cooling. TID of Cr, Mo, N and Ni enhance growth kinetics. Without TID, compositions of the interface region change, decreasing the driving force for growth and finally causing numerical ...
