A morphometric study of arch of the great saphenous vein and its clinical significance
Objective: Varicosities in the lower limbs are the most important afflictions of the venous system, as well as of the peripheral vascular disorders. They are always caused by a fault in the valves inside the veins at the point where the superficial veins

The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Effect of p21Waf1 and p27Kip1 on centrosome replication and proliferation of breast cancer cell
Aberrant centrosome numbers are detected in virtually all cancers, increasing the risk for cell division errors and chromosomal instability.

Lines of corn L-70/9 and B-73 RfC are carrying the gene Rf4 on the same loci [PDF]
The inheritance of the fertility restoration in cms-C in maize is very complex, and there are many contradictory results in the literature. There is an indication that there are different parallel or duplicated systems some of which include at least ...

Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Identification and characterization of disease-related copy number variations (CNVs) by high-dense SNP oligonucleotide microarrays [PDF]
Genomic microarray analysis is rapidly replacing conventional chromosome analysis by molecular karyotyping due to the significant increase in the power to detect causative CNVs.

Acute caffeine treatment protects the developing retina from ischemia‐induced cell death
Caffeine reduces cell death in the developing retina under ischemia (OGD). This effect does not involve BDNF upregulation or antioxidant pathways (NRF2/VEGF). Neuroprotection occurs mainly through adenosine A2A receptor antagonism, decreasing glutamate release and excitotoxicity, highlighting caffeine's potential as an acute neuroprotective agent in ...

De-duplication is defined as the technique to eliminate or link duplicate copies of repeating data. We consider a specific de-duplication application where a subject applies for a new passport and we want to check if he possesses a passport already under

Copy-number changes in evolution: rates, fitness effects and adaptive significance
Gene copy-number differences due to gene duplications and deletions are rampant in natural populations and play a crucial role in the evolution of genome complexity.

Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...
