Forecasting Accuracy of In-Progress Activity Duration and Cost Estimates [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Construction Engineering and Management - ASCE, 2020
When a project activity has already started, tracking information such as percent complete and current activity duration and cost can be easily retrieved. This information can be used to update the project schedule to anticipate the eventual project duration and cost more precisely.

Graph-Enhanced Management-Context-Aware Multi-Step Forecasting of Hourly Sensor-Derived Physiological and Behavioral Indicators in Hu Sheep [PDF]

open access: yesAnimals
Forecasting sensor-derived animal-state indicators can provide forward-looking information for precision sheep farming, but sheep responses are shaped by their barn environment, previous state, and routine operations.

Forecasting the Remaining Duration of an Ongoing Solar Flare [PDF]

open access: yesSpace Weather, 2021
The solar X‐ray irradiance is significantly heightened during the course of a solar flare, which can cause radio blackouts due to ionization of the atoms in the ionosphere.

Forecasting the duration of short‐term deflation episodes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Forecasting, 2018
AbstractThe paper proposes a simulation‐based approach to multistep probabilistic forecasting, applied for predicting the probability and duration of negative inflation. The essence of this approach is in counting runs simulated from a multivariate distribution representing the probabilistic forecasts, which enters the negative inflation regime.

Enhanced ESM approach for duration forecasting in delayed projects

open access: yesAin Shams Engineering Journal
Delays occur commonly for construction projects. How to control projects before delays are desired by project managers. The Earned schedule method (ESM), a derivative of the earned value management method, forecasts project durations effectively ...

Predicting project duration and cost, and selecting the best action plan using statistical methods for earned value management [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Project Management, 2020
Nowadays, with the increasing number of projects in organizations, managers are enthusiastic about managing and controlling projects, and as projects become more complex and cause unforeseen risks, project management becomes even more critical. Using the

Modeling and Forecasting Persistent Financial Durations [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2012
This paper introduces the Markov-Switching Multifractal Duration (MSMD) model by adapting the MSM stochastic volatility model of Calvet and Fisher (2004) to the duration setting. Although the MSMD process is exponential $β$-mixing as we show in the paper, it is capable of generating highly persistent autocorrelation.
