English or Anglo-Saxon in origin, the term dust initially referred simply to particles of earth or other matter small enough to be raised and carried by the wind. However, it rapidly acquired broader cultural connotations; thus, dust came to signify annihilation or a mark of repentance in religious observances, the ashes and mouldered remains of the ...

A decade of ejecta dust formation in the Type IIn SN 2005ip [PDF]
In order to understand the contribution of core-collapse supernovae to the dust budget of the early universe, it is important to understand not only the mass of dust that can form in core-collapse supernovae but also the location and rate of dust ...

The Role of Dust in the Early Universe I : Protogalaxy Evolution [PDF]
We develop one-zone galaxy formation models in the early Universe, taking into account dust formation and evolution by supernova (SN) explosions. Especially we focus on the time evolution of dust size distribution, because ${\rm H}_{2}$ formation on the ...

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

Validation of chemoresistance phenotypes in pleural mesothelioma across 2D, 3D, and in vivo models
Pleural mesothelioma (PM) is a highly aggressive cancer with limited treatment efficacy and poor prognosis. Conventional two-dimensional (2D) culture models fail to replicate the tumour microenvironment (TME), limiting their translational relevance. Here,

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

A ring of asteroidal dust encircles the Earth, and a cloud of dust permanently follows the Earth in its orbit around the Sun, according to new infrared satellite observations reported in the June 29 issue of Nature. The findings by astronomers at the University of Florida, Gainesville, may also help explain the asymmetry of the zodiacal cloud that ...

Introduction: The entry of dust particles into water areas, which has increased sharply in recent years, causes a lot of environmental damage. The Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman are among the water areas that are covered with dust many times of the ...
