KNIFE ART AND CARRIERS OF INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE IN DUZCE

open access: yesIdil Journal of Art and Language, 2021
Traditional arts and professions are the carriers of our culture because they carry historical background. For this reason, traditional arts and professions and cultural heritage are easily transferred to future generations. While knife was a tool that facilitated human life in the early periods, it turned into an art in time.

Rocking and Rolling of Rigid Polygons Under Seismic Excitation

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We present an event driven analytical framework for rigid cyclic polygons subjected to horizontal ground excitation in which uplift, impact, and successive pivot switching are treated within a unified non‐smooth dynamical description. Rolling is defined as a sequence of energetically admissible transitions between neighbouring vertices tied to

The nucleation of the Izmit and Düzce earthquakes: some mechanical logic on where and how ruptures began

open access: yesGeophysical Journal International, 2021
In spite of growing evidence that many earthquakes are preceded by increased seismic activity, the nature of this activity is still poorly understood.

On Geometric Phase Model in the Theory of Curves With Myller Configuration

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this paper, we introduce a linearly polarized light wave in an optical fiber and rotation of the polarization plane through the Frenet‐type frame with Myller configuration. Since the geometric evaluation and interpretations of a polarized light wave are associated with geometric phase, a new type of geometric phase model has been ...

Physicochemical and Antioxidant Responses of St. John’s Wort (Hypericum perforatum L.) under Drought Stress

open access: yesDüzce Üniversitesi Bilim ve Teknoloji Dergisi, 2021
This study investigated the effects of drought stress on the physiological and biochemical responses of the medicinal and aromatic plant Hypericum perforatum (St. John’s Wort). Changes were determined in leaf length, relative water content (RWC), osmotic

Generation Rather Than Sex Shapes Wing Morphology in Cydalima perspectalis (Lepidoptera, Crambidae): Insights From Geometric Morphometrics and Climate‐Based Projections

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, EarlyView.
An integrated framework combining geometric morphometrics and ecological niche modeling was applied to Cydalima perspectalis to assess intergenerational morphological variation, test sexual dimorphism, and predict future distribution under climate scenarios. Wing shape effectively discriminated between generations but not between sexes.
