Redundancy‐Based Seismic Safety Evaluation of Seismically Isolated Buildings

open access: yesJAPAN ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW, Volume 9, Issue 1, January–December 2026.
Seismically isolated buildings exhibit low redundancy, with damage progressing rapidly once the superstructure's response exceeds a critical threshold. This study formulates the relationship between the Ds value and ductility factor of the superstructure, enabling quantitative evaluation of quasi‐brittle behavior.

Design of Novel Exponential PDN Controller via Quadratic Interpolation Optimiser for Nonlinear and Unstable Ball and Beam System

open access: yesIET Control Theory &Applications, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This study presents a novel exponential proportional‐derivative controller with filter (exp‐PDN) for stabilising the nonlinear and underactuated ball and beam system. Unlike conventional PID‐based approaches, the proposed controller removes the integral term, resulting in faster transient responses and improved robustness.

Rupture Process of the 1999 M_w 7.1 Duzce Earthquake from Joint Analysis of SPOT, GPS, InSAR, Strong-Motion, and Teleseismic Data: A Supershear Rupture with Variable Rupture Velocity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We analyze the rupture process of the 1999 M_w 7.1 Duzce earthquake using seismological, remote sensing, and geodetic data. Ground deformation measured from the subpixel cross correlation of Satellite Pour l'Observation de la Terre (SPOT) images reveals ...

Adaptive Nonlinear PID Controller for Boosted Load Frequency Management of Grids With Renewables and Energy Storage Units

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission &Distribution, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
Adaptive nonlinear PID controller as a promising control scheme is introduced. Two nonlinear gains based on the configurable hyperbolic functions are used. SFS algorithm is employed to calibrate controller gains optimally. Performance gained is tested on various power grids enriched by RESs and ESUs.

Design and Evaluation of a Logistics Network for Tire Recovery in Turkey [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Tire remanufacturing, commonly known as tire retreading, and tire recycling are very profitable, yet many companies who reprocess used tires mostly conduct either only recycling or only retreading in Turkey.

High Habitat Potential but Limited Connectivity for Brown Bears Throughout Europe

open access: yesDiversity and Distributions, Volume 32, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim Large carnivores worldwide have experienced substantial range contractions due to human activities, though several species are recolonising parts of their historical range. We aimed to assess current and potential European brown bear (Ursus arctos arctos) habitat as well as habitat connectivity on a continental scale. Location The extended

ANALYSIS OF INTRA-METROPOLITAN MOBILITY IN MARMARA REGION [PDF]

open access: yes
Urban spaces are dynamic entities and to understand the socio-spatial processes of these entities is hard to analyze and evaluate. Residential mobility is one of the most important socio-spatial dynamics proceeding in an urban space through which socio ...

The effect of the number of response cycles on the behaviour of reinforced concrete elements subject to cyclic loading [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The development of damage in reinforced concrete (RC) structures is a cumulative process. Some damage indices used to quantify damage make use of the number of response cycles as an Engineering Demand Parameter (EDP) relating with damage development ...
