Dormant dwarf spheroidal galaxies, deactivated by Type Ia supernovae [PDF]
Some dwarf spheroidal galaxies have experienced many Gyrs long periods without star formation. We show that Type Ia supernovae, formed from a first generation of stars, can delay a second epoch of star formation by several Gyrs, if the total gas mass in the dwarf spheroidals is smaller than $10^8 M_{\odot}$.

A Dynamically Distinct Stellar Population in the Leading Arm of the Sagittarius Stream
We present a chemical and dynamical analysis of the leading arm (LA) and trailing arm (TA) of the Sagittarius (Sgr) stream, as well as for the Sgr dwarf galaxy core (SC), using red giant branch, main-sequence, and RR Lyrae stars from large spectroscopic ...

Finding Faint Intermediate-mass Black Holes in the Radio Band
We discuss the prospects for detecting faint intermediate-mass black holes, such as those predicted to exist in the cores of globular clusters and dwarf spheroidal galaxies.

A SPECTROSCOPIC BINARY IN THE HERCULES DWARF SPHEROIDAL GALAXY [PDF]
We present the radial velocity curve of a single-lined spectroscopic binary in the faint Hercules dwarf spheroidal (dSph) galaxy, based on 34 individual spectra covering more than two years of observations. This is the first time that orbital elements could be derived for a binary in a dSph.

A Universal SFDM Halo Mass for the Andromeda and Milky Way's dSphs? [PDF]
Dwarf spheroidal galaxies are the most common type of galaxies, and are the most dark matter dominated objects in the Universe. Therefore, they are ideal laboratories to test any dark matter model. The Bose-Einstein condensate/scalar field dark matter model considers that the dark matter is composed by spinless-ultra-light particles which can be ...

Schwarzschild models of the Sculptor dSph galaxy
We have developed a spherically symmetric dynamical model of a dwarf spheroidal galaxy using the Schwarzschild method. This type of modelling yields constraints both on the total mass distribution (e.g.

The mass content of the Sculptor dwarf spheroidal galaxy [PDF]
AbstractWe present a new determination of the mass content of the Sculptor dwarf spheroidal galaxy, based on a novel approach which takes into account the two distinct stellar populations present in this galaxy. This method helps to partially break the well-known mass-anisotropy degeneracy present in the modelling of pressure-supported stellar systems.

Kinematics and Metallicity of the Dwarf Spheroidal Galaxy Andromeda XVIII
Andromeda XVIII is an isolated dwarf galaxy 579 kpc away from the nearest large galaxy, M31. It is a candidate “backsplash galaxy” that might have been affected by a close passage to M31.

Little Bear’s pulsating stars: Variable star census of UMi dSph Galaxy
Recent observations and a photometric search for variable stars in the Ursa Minor dwarf spheroidal galaxy (UMi dSph) are presented. Our observations were taken at Apache Point Observatory in 2014 and 2016 using the 0.5m ARCSAT telescope and the West ...
