Simulation of DWDM components

24th European Conference on Optical Communication. ECOC '98 (IEEE Cat. No.98TH8398), 2002
For a full simulation of DWDM-components like arrayed-waveguide-gratings a combination of BPM/FEM and analytical models is used. We show modelling results for transmission characteristics with emphasis on insertion loss, bandwidth and crosstalk and give a comparison with experimental results.

Data transmission analysis of DWDM and SDH

2018 26th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference (SIU), 2018
High speed data transmission was needed regarding technological improvements. DWDM and SDHs which are commonly used in optical systems provide high speed data transmission. On this work, working principles of DWDM and SDHs which are used in optical communication systems were investigated and also performance analyzes performed via OptiSystem 7.0 ...

The Model of the DWDM Access Node

2018
The following work presents an analytical model of a queuing system with a non-full-availability server and multi-service traffic. This model is then used for an analysis of a DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) networks access node. Such an approach to DWDM node modeling enables the basic characteristics of the system to be determined and ...

Maxmin lambda allocation for DWDM networks

Proceedings 10th IEEE International Conference on Networks (ICON 2002). Towards Network Superiority (Cat. No.02EX588), 2003
This paper presents a heuristic for solving the discrete maxmin rates for DWDM-based optical subnetworks. Discrete maxmin allocation is proposed as the preferred way of assigning wavelengths to the flows found to be suitable for lightpath switching.

Adaptive QoS schemes in DWDM networks

2002 IEEE International Conference on Communications. Conference Proceedings. ICC 2002 (Cat. No.02CH37333), 2003
In this paper, we present a scheme for dynamic resource management using heterogeneous traffic descriptors. A simple priority class scheme to support basic QoS at the DWDM layer in optical networks is devised. Unlike existing mechanisms that depend on buffer management and scheduling algorithms, our mechanism does not require any electronic buffering ...

A fast heuristic for DWDM routing and grooming

2007 6th International Workshop on Design and Reliable Communication Networks, 2007
Due to the capacity granularities inherent to optical networks, routing and traffic grooming are complex problems in DWDM networks. Although algorithms, which are capable of finding (near) optimal solutions exist, they require significant computation time, thus severly limiting the grounds for a more interactive approach to network design or the ...

Finding protection cycles in DWDM networks

2002 IEEE International Conference on Communications. Conference Proceedings. ICC 2002 (Cat. No.02CH37333), 2003
We introduce the problem of mesh optical network protection based on multiple logical ring/cycles. A two-staged problem formulation as well as classical ring finding algorithms are first discussed. A state-of-art protection cycle (p-cycle) finding algorithm is then proposed.

Control and Management Scheme in a DWDM EPON

2006 International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks, 2006
Passive Optical Networks (PONs) are a preferred architecture for distribution of bandwidth in the access network. The BSIK Freeband Broadband Photonics Project(BBP) looks at the design of a flexible DWDM PON which can be used to increase the bandwidth provided to the user.

Group switching for DWDM optical networks

Proceedings. 13th International Conference on Computer Communications and Networks (IEEE Cat. No.04EX969), 2005
A new class of interconnection networks called group connectors are introduced. A group connector G (N,n) is a switching network that consists of N inputs and N outputs such that (1) its N outputs are divided into N/n groups with n outputs in each group, and (2) it can provide any simultaneous one-to-one connections from the N inputs to the N outputs ...

Arrayed Waveguide Grating DWDM Interleaver

Optical Fiber Communication Conference and International Conference on Quantum Information, 2001
Arrayed waveguide grating DWDM interleavers are proposed and analyzed. With simple design rules, interleavers with low channel cross-talk and flat-top passband can be easily implemented.
