Performance of broadband DWDM networks

2000 Digest of the LEOS Summer Topical Meetings. Electronic-Enhanced Optics. Optical Sensing in Semiconductor Manufacturing. Electro-Optics in Space. Broadband Optical Networks (Cat. No.00TH8497), 2002
Broadband companies have started deploying DWDM networks for the transport of narrowcast (NC) services such as telephony, high-speed-data and video-on-demand. In this paper we compare the performance of four different broadband DWDM architectures.

MIL-avionic octal DWDM transmitter

2013 IEEE Avionics, Fiber-Optics and Photonics Technology Conference (AVFOP), 2013
We present an eight channel DWDM transmitter (Octal DWDM Tx) module compatible with the low-form factor (5 mm height) packaging and temperature range (-40 C to 100 C) requirements for aerospace applications. This module was based on an innovative `narrow lambda tuning' architecture that allows the use of low cost, commercially available laser ...

SRS effect in DWDM systems

2002 3rd International Conference on Microwave and Millimeter Wave Technology, 2002. Proceedings. ICMMT 2002., 2003
In this paper we discussed the Stimulated Raman Scattering (SRS) effect in DWDM systems and showed that SRS is not a threshold phenomenon. The difference between SRS and RS is only the gain law. We also proved that the increasing speed of Stokes beam depends on not only the intensity of pumping beam but also on its self.

High-capacity DWDM/ETDM transmission

Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibit, 2002
Summary form only given. High-capacity, terrestrial optical transmission systems are now being widely deployed offering aggregate capacities >1 Tb/s over distances of >1,000 km. They use dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) techniques in combination with high-speed electrical time-division multiplexing (ETDM) to minimize the cost per bit and ...

DWDM-based FTTC access network

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2001
This paper proposes a dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM)-based fiber-to-the-curb (FTTC) access network architecture for broad-band services. The reaches of four carrierless amplitude phase (4-CAP)-modulated very high-speed digital subscriber line (VDSL) signals over the hybrid-fiber twisted pair (HFTP) were simulated.

Implementing DWDM Lambda-Grids

2009
Unprecedented demand for ultrafast and dependable access to computing Grids contributes to the accelerating use of dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) technology as a Lambda-Grid enabler. In the Lambda-Grid space, the DWDM infrastructure provisions dynamic lambdas or wavelengths of light ondemand to support terabyte and petabyte transmission ...

Modelling PBG devices to DWDM filters design

International Journal of Numerical Modelling: Electronic Networks, Devices and Fields, 2004
AbstractThe fibre optic transmission systems require a bandwidth of about 25 THz in telecommunications networks, for which it is necessary to resort to dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) systems. These systems need optical filters to broadcast selectively or not in a given wavelength band.A new very promising technology for these ...
