An approach to DWDM for real-time applications

IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 2004
Dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) is a technology that assigns to the users of an optical network specific wavelengths or "colors" and mixes them in a single strand of fiber. Heterogeneous data is transmitted simultaneously across lanes of light, which are demuxed at the receiving end and delivered to the clients.

Monolithically integrated DWDM receiver

IEE Proceedings J Optoelectronics, 1993
A grating spectrometer integrated monolithically in the InGaAsP system with a photodiode array for a dense WDM system is presented for the 1.5 μm wavelength region. The chip provides more than 30 wavelength channels with a spacing of 4 nm, a channel crosstalk of approximately −15 dB, an internal photodiode efficiency of 90% and a photodiode capacitance

On Multiplexing Optimization in DWDM Networks

Optical Fiber Communication Conference/National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference 2011, 2011
We propose a novel graph model for multiplexing optimization in optical networks and evaluate the performance of several multiplexing policies. Simulation shows that our advocated multiplexing policy can provide significant network cost savings.

DWDM core transport technology

14th Annual International Conference on Wireless and Optical Communications, 2005. WOCC 2005, 2005
Summary form only given. Dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) transmission systems have been used in commercial networks to transport massive data over long distances. The majority of the backbone DWDM systems that are deployed today are point-to-point with limited reach and capacity.

Designing Hybrid SONET and DWDM Networks

IEEE Communications Magazine, 2006
To take full advantage of SONET granularity and DWDM capacity, the two technologies must be combined to enable deployment of the most economic transport networks. The emergence of integrated SONET and DWDM platforms is also part of the effort to build a hybrid network to achieve this objective.

Manufacturing of lasers for DWDM systems

SPIE Proceedings, 1999
The evolution of dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) has allowed service provides a convenient and cost effective method to dramatically increase transmission capacity over existing and new fiber network systems. As the demand for bandwidth continues to increase, systems designers are responding by increasing both the number of channels and ...
