Fluorinated Tolane Dyads with Alkylene Linkage: Synthesis and Evaluation of Photophysical Characteristics

open access: yesCrystals, 2020
Light-emitting materials have received considerable attention because of their broad applications as substrates in bio-imaging and sensing components, light-emitting displays, and lighting devices.

WE INFLUENCE EACH OTHER IN DIFFERENT WAYS: A DYADIC EXAMINATION OF TPB IN PREDICTING COUPLE TOURISTS’ REVISIT INTENTIONS [PDF]

open access: yesGeo Journal of Tourism and Geosites
Couples make joint decisions for their shared travels. However, how such decisions are made, i.e., how different perceptions among two individuals interact and influence one another’s decision-making remains less studied.

Over the edge: Empirical evidence for the cliff‐edge model of obstetric selection

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The cliff‐edge model of obstetric selection maintains that larger neonates and smaller birth canals confer a positive selective advantage until labor becomes obstructed and vaginal delivery is no longer possible, eliciting an abrupt reduction in fitness.

An examination of ambiguity aversion: Are two heads better than one?

open access: yesJudgment and Decision Making, 2007
Ambiguity aversion has been widely observed in individuals’ judgments. Using scenarios that are typical in decision analysis, we investigate ambiguity aversion for pairs of individuals.

The mechanism of labor in nonhuman primates: A look inside

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract While in humans, the flexed position of the fetus and its rotating course down the birth canal are well documented, in other primates the mechanism of labor is unknown. Despite the lack of comparative data, it is commonly assumed that the human obstetric mechanism is unique, and anthropologists have disputed when and why the transition to the ...

Historical birth records from 1896 to 1944 from the Basel maternity hospital, Switzerland, reveal significant obstetric selection pressures

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality have declined dramatically during the last century. Historical data are therefore important sources to study the evolutionary selection pressures related to childbirth and how they have fluctuated over time.

Dyadic interaction enhances sensitivity and shifts decision criterion in a change detection task

open access: yesFrontiers in Cognition
IntroductionCan two-person decision-making change performance in detecting a change in the scene? Observers sometimes fail to detect visual changes that occur during a coincident visual transient or other disruption, a phenomenon known as change ...

Predicting meaning in the dyad.

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Psychology: General
This study investigates the role of meaning prediction in dyadic interactions. Participants engaged in a semantic association game in which the predictability of upcoming word categories was manipulated. Results showed that predictability speeds up speech production in both interlocutors.

The impact of family interview on the relationship between medical students and their silent mentor

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, EarlyView.
Abstract The gross anatomy laboratory course often triggers significant negative emotions in medical students during dissection. While various pedagogical interventions aim to alleviate psychological burden, the fundamental question of how students' perceptions of donors evolve throughout the course remains underexplored.
