Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Dynamic Behavior of Aggregated Buildings With Different Floor Systems and Their Finite Element Modeling

open access: yesFrontiers in Built Environment, 2019
The aim of this research is to propose a way of simulating the interaction between aggregated masonry buildings for the finite element analysis. In most cases, the stiffness of adjacent structures is difficult to evaluate due to the unavailability of ...

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Discourse network analysis: policy debates as dynamic networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Political discourse is the verbal interaction between political actors. Political actors make normative claims about policies conditional on each other. This renders discourse a dynamic network phenomenon.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Enhancing stress measurements accuracy control in the construction of long-span bridges

open access: yesScientific Reports
This paper introduces new contributions for construction procedures designed to enhance the robustness and precision of stress control in active anchorage and short presetressing units for long-span bridges, particularly addressing potential technical ...

Drive train dynamic analysis [PDF]

open access: yes
A method for parametric variations in drive train dynamic analysis is described. The method models the individual components of a drive system, forms the appropriate system interface coordinates and, calculates the system dynamic response at particular ...

Magazine sales promotion : a dynamic response analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This paper studies the impact and effectiveness of a type of non-price promotion often used in the European periodical magazines industry to stimulate sales, in which a value pack is sold containing the magazine issue plus another product.
