The dynamic competitive balance ratio as a new method of understanding competitive balance and fan attendance

open access: yes, 2010
The theoretical premise of this research can be traced back to seminal studies of economist’s Simon Rottenberg (1956) and Walter Neale (1964), who both noted the importance of uncertainty of outcome in attracting spectators to live sporting events.

On the Analytics of the Dynamic Laffer Curve [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper, we analyze government budget balance within a simple model of endogenous growth. For the AK model, simple analytical conditions for a tax cut to be self-financing can be derived.

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Competitive Balance in the Portuguese premier league of professional soccer [PDF]

open access: yes
Paper is under revision, pdf is not available. Competitive balance is what makes the sport becoming an attractive event. Contrary to other industries, a reduction in competition and a hypothetically dominant position could mean the end of the ...

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

An Interpretable Machine Learning Framework for Athlete Motor Profiling Using Multi-Domain Field Assessments: A Proof-of-Concept Study

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Early detection of modifiable motor deficits is essential for safe, long-term athletic development, yet most field screens provide only binary risk scores.

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐
