Intelligent dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithm for metro networks

SPIE Proceedings, 2010
A novel dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithm named GTH-DBA is proposed for metro networks. A testbed is constructed to test its performance. Numeric results show that this algorithm is effective to improve the bandwidth efficiency of the metro networks.

A dynamic bandwidth allocation scheme for ATM networks

Proceedings of Fourth International Conference on Computer Communications and Networks - IC3N'95, 2002
In order to efficiently manage ATM network resources, a new dynamic bandwidth allocation scheme called minimum overflow traffic algorithm (MOTA) is proposed to assign the bandwidth b/sub i/ for each traffic class in ATM networks. An overflow traffic function Q is used to adjust the bandwidth assignment each time when a new connection is required.

Dynamic allocation of communication bandwidth in multicomputers

1994
Long and unpredictable interconnection network delay can be the performance bottleneck of multicomputers with thousands of processing elements. Scheduling techniques based on virtual channels can be applied to provide the ability to deliver guaranteed communication bandwidth to classes of time-critical messages.

Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation in SIP based MPLS

21st International Conference on Advanced Networking and Applications (AINA '07), 2007
With the migration of real-time applications such as voice onto IP-based platforms, the existing IP network capabilities become inadequate to provide the quality-of- service (QoS) levels that the end-users are accustomed to. While new protocols such as DiffServ and MPLS allow some amount of traffic prioritization, guaranteed QoS requires admission ...

Dynamic fair bandwidth allocation for DiffServ classes

2002 IEEE International Conference on Communications. Conference Proceedings. ICC 2002 (Cat. No.02CH37333), 2003
The assured forwarding per hop behavior standardized by the IETF Differentiated Services working group provides four class-based differentiated IP services. In this service, however, unexpected service degradation may occur and differentiation among classes may be disordered if the network is designed to minimize over-provisioning or is under ...

Prediction-based dynamic bandwidth allocation in WiFi

SPIE Proceedings, 2004
We study the dynamic allocation of bandwidth for video traffic in wireless networks. Our approach consists of two stages. In the first stage, we apply the FARIMA (Fractional Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average) models to forecast traffic based on online traffic measurements.

Optimal dynamic bandwidth allocation for complex networks

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 2013
Abstract Traffic capacity of one network strongly depends on the link’s bandwidth allocation strategy. In previous bandwidth allocation mechanisms, once one link’s bandwidth is allocated, it will be fixed throughout the overall traffic transmission process. However, the traffic load of every link changes from time to time.

Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation with High Efficiency for EPONs

2006 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2006
This paper proposes an efficient bandwidth allocation algorithm for an EPON system. The proposed algorithm is based on the multipoint control protocol (MPCP) defined by the IEEE 802.3ah Task Force and incorporates a dynamic bandwidth allocation (DBA) scheme that makes use of the excessive bandwidth of lightly loaded ONUs to meet the bandwidth demand of

Enhanced dynamic bandwidth allocation in WDM-PON

SPIE Proceedings, 2007
WDM based passive optical network (PON) upgrades current TDM based PON at the architecture, protocol and dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithms to provide higher bandwidth in the access networks. Various Dynamic Wavelength and Bandwidth Allocation algorithms for WDM-PON have been studied.

An adaptive neural network admission controller for dynamic bandwidth allocation

IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics, Part B (Cybernetics), 1998
In an access node to a hybrid-switching network (e.g., a base station handling the downlink in a cellular wireless network), the output link bandwidth is dynamically shared between isochronous (guaranteed bandwidth) and asynchronous traffic types. The bandwidth allocation is effected by an admission controller, whose goal is to minimize the refusal ...
